Wanda Dolores Billups

Wanda Dolores Billups, 83, of Mount Hope, died May 2, 2014, at Raleigh General Hospital, Beckley.

Born Aug. 31, 1930, at Chelyan, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Margaret Massey. She also was preceded in death by her husband, James Bruce Billups.

Dolores was a retired nurse’s assistant and a member of the Weirwood Community Church.

Surviving: sons, Bruce W. Billups and wife Carol of Beckley and Charles W. Billups and wife Rae of Ft. Myers, Fla.; stepchildren, Paul Billups and companion Amy of Mount Hope, Mark Billups and wife Leslie of Maple Fork, Charlene Miller and husband Michael of Lake Mary, Fla., and Jerry Suttle and wife Donna of Texas; sister, Peggy Lewis of Alabama; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were May 6 at Weirwood Community Church with Pastor Tom Lilly officiating. Burial was at Pax Community Cemetery.

Robert Lee Bragg

Robert Lee Bragg, 68, of Oak Hill, died May 4, 2014, at Hilltop Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Hilltop.

Born March 16, 1946, at Oak Hill, he was the son of the late Charles Ernie and Mildred J. Hager Bragg. As the last surviving member of  his immediate family, Robert also was preceded in death by a brother, Charles E. Bragg Jr., and a sister, Carol Sue Berlin.

He was a retired plant operator for West Virginia American Water Company.

Mr. Bragg was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, Oak Hill.

A man of many interests, Robert was a ham radio operator, was a member of REACT, had been an announcer on WOAY Radio and enjoyed photography.

He was a former member of the Army National Guard, 150th Armored Cavalry. He loved singing with the Messengers Quartet.           

Surviving: his wife, Diana L. Waddell Bragg; son, Robert E. Bragg of Oak Hill; daughter, Debbie Bragg Campbell and husband P.J. of Gladys, Va.; grandchildren, Abby, Caedmon and Caleb Campbell; uncle, Bill Hagar of Richmond, Va.; aunt, Naomi Altizer of Canebrake; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be on Friday, May 9, at 2 p.m. at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Rev. Mark Wood and Rev. Delmas Wolfe officiating. Burial will be at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill, with military rites by the Oak Hill VFW Post 3110.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to Tyree Funeral Home, 999 Jones Avenue, Oak Hill, to assist the family with funeral expenses.
