Thelma Bragg Chapman

Thelma Bragg Chapman, 86, of Mount Hope, died May 24, 2013, at the Bowers Hospice House following a long illness.

Born Aug. 2, 1926, at Ellison, she was a daughter of the late Basil and Daisy Barlow Bragg. She also was preceded in death by a sister, Stella Horton.

Thelma was a member of the Jumping Branch Gospel Tabernacle and a homemaker.

Surviving: her husband, Harold Chapman, and a granddaughter, Sarah Paxton, both of Mt. Hope;  brothers, James Bragg and wife Maxine of Nimitz, Glen Bragg and wife Annie of Illinois, and Roger Bragg and wife Jane of Jumping Branch; and a sister, Virginia Stennett and husband Tom of Nimitz.

Funeral services were May 28 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Tom Coffman officiating. Burial followed in the Lilly-Crews Cemetery at Nimitz.

Jim ‘Pee Wee’ D’Angelo

Jim “Pee Wee” D’Angelo, 57, of Mount Hope, formerly of Glen Jean, died May 20, 2013, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born Aug. 23, 1955, at Beckley, he was the son of the late Jim and Lucille Romano D’Angelo.

Mr. D’Angelo was a retired plant operator for Reclaiming LLC.

He was a member of the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Oak Hill.

Pee Wee was an avid fan of the WVU Mountaineers and NASCAR with Tony Stewart being his favorite driver.

Surviving: his wife, Anita Marie Rhodes D’Angelo; daughters, Lucy D’Angelo of Beckley and Jamie D’Angelo of Oak Hill; brothers, Carmen D’Angelo and wife Mary of Derry Hale, Nick D’Angelo, and Mickey Ray Menei and wife Melissa, all of Oak Hill; a sister, Carmen Marie D’Angelo of Oak Hill; grandchildren, Maddie, Kenley, Chloe, Harlan, Cali, and Benjamin D’Angelo Miller; uncles, Vince Menei and wife Norma of Derry Hale, Raymond Menei and wife Phyllis of Mount Hope, and Buddy Vannater and wife Ann of Beckley; aunts, Carol Menei of Glen Jean and Jo Lafferty of Oak Hill; special nephew, Vincent Frank D’Angelo and wife Teresa; and several other nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian burial was May 24 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Oak Hill with Father Paul Yuenger officiating. Burial was at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill.
