Robert Anthony McGuire

Robert Anthony McGuire, 28, of Meadow Bridge, died Jan. 19, 2013.

A memorial service was held Feb. 2, in the Bellwood Baptist Church.

Ruby Mae Parker

Ruby Mae Parker, 64, of Victor, died Jan. 21, 2013, following a long illness.

Born Feb. 21,1948, in Fairfax County, Va., she was the daughter of the late Lillian Elizabeth Hawthorne.

Ruby was a member of Horseshoe Baptist Church and a homemaker.

Surviving: her husband, Lawrence Parker of Victor; daughters, Patricia Mae Petitt of Victor and Melissa Ann Nutter and her husband, Mike, of Hico; grandchildren, Brittney Kenney, Robert Petitt, Kim Nutter and Katie Petitt; great-grandchildren, Kayleigh Golden and Daisy Mae Keeney; and a brother, Ernest Franklin Lawhorne of Victor.

Funeral services were Jan. 24, at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home Chapel in Ansted with Pastor Wade Samples officiating. By her request, she was cremated after the services.

Ron ‘Moose’ Dale Patrick

Ron “Moose” Dale Patrick, 43, of Kimberly, died Jan. 28, 2013, at his home.

Born Aug. 25, 1969, at Oak Hill, he was the son of the late Hershel and Erma Joyce Scarbro Patrick.

Moose was a diesel mechanic and coal truck driver for Jane Lee Trucking.

He was a member of the Mossy Living Word Church.

Surviving: fiancee, Christina Sparks; stepson, Jonathan Sparks, and a stepdaughter, Emily Sparks, both of Kimberly.

Funeral services were Feb. 2, at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Rev. Paul Basham officiating. Burial was at Rinehart Cemetery, Mossy.

William Joseph ‘Bill’ Reed

William Joseph “Bill” Reed, 72, of Hico, died Feb. 1, 2013, at his home.

Born March 24, 1940, at Glen Morgan, he was the son of the late James A. Reed and Norma Epperly Reed.

Mr. Reed was a retired coal miner, and was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving from 1959 until 1963.

He was a member of the Sunday Road Baptist Church at Hico, and had made his home at Hico for nearly 42 years.  

Surviving: his wife, Denise Campbell Reed; sons, Mark Reed and his wife, Amy, of Hico, Adam Roberts of Oak Hill, and Joseph E. Roberts and his wife, Shalaine, of Jacksonville, Ark.; a brother, Carl Reed and his wife, Dora, of Glen Morgan; grandchildren, Ashton and Blake; special grandchildren, Taylor and T.C. Perry; and special friends, Harry Treadway, Marshall Wilson, and Donzie Pack.

Funeral services to celebrate the life of William “Bill” Reed were held Feb. 6, at the Sunday Road Baptist Church, Hico, with Pastor Allen Donaldson officiating. Burial followed at Sunset Memorial Park in Beckley.

Military graveside rites were conducted by the Oak Hill VFW Post #3110 Honor Guard.
