James William Hoover Sr.

James William Hoover Sr., 61, of Chestnut Knob Road, Layland, died Feb. 17, 2013.

As per his wishes, his body is to be cremated. There will be no services at this time.

Kay Frances King

Kay Frances King, 64, of Smithers, died Feb. 11, 2013.

Born Jan. 31, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Walter Pete and Virginia Bell Skaggs Totten. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Charles “Buck” King Jr..

She was a devoted housewife and mother.

Surviving: children, Christina Kay and husband Tim Fletcher, of Fayetteville, Donald Stewart and wife Crystal Anderson of Oak Hill, and Anthony and wife Angie Anderson of Sissonville; stepdaughter, Nikki Smith of Bealeton, Va.; brother, Dave and wife Sue Totten of Sandusky, Ohio, and Richard Totten of Glasgow; sister, Connie Perdue of Chesapeake; 14 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Service was Feb. 14 at O’Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery, with Rev. Terry King officiating. Burial followed at Montgomery Memorial Park, London.

Carolyn Sue Koch

Carolyn Sue Koch, 67, of Ansted, died Feb. 12, 2013, at Plateau Medical Center in Oak Hill.

Born Nov. 27, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Nellie Marie Canterbury. She also was  preceded in death by her brother, Howard Mitchell Canterbury, and her sister, Bobbie Gail Canterbury.

Carolyn was an associate manager at Big Lots and was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy.

Surviving: her husband, Robert G. Koch Sr. of Ansted; children, Robert G. Koch Jr., David A. Koch Sr., and Carol B. Taylor, all of Ansted, Rubonda L. Proskin of Oak Hill and Danny L. Koch of Ansted; sister, Louetta J. Koch of Victor; 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was Feb. 16, at Pennington Funeral Home, Gauley Bridge, with Rev. Debbie Minor officiating. Entombment followed at Restlawn Memory Gardens Mausoleum Chapel, Victor.
