Joan Vandall Martin
Joan Elizabeth Vandall Martin, 59, of Rainelle, died Feb. 8, 2013, at her home following a long illness.
Born Nov. 22, 1953, at Meadow Bridge, she was the daughter of the late Dewey and Gloria Lewis Vandall. She also was preceded in death by her brother and best friend, David Vandall.
Joan was employed at Isratex in Rainelle for many years as a seamstress and the Rainelle Pizza Hut.
She was a devout Christian and an active member of the First Baptist Church at Rainelle.
Joan enjoyed cooking, sewing and spoiling her niece and nephews. Everyone who knew Joan loved and adored her.
Surviving: her husband and soul mate, Ronald Martin; brother, David Fleshman of Grassy Meadows; sisters, Kathy Dorsey (John) of Rupert and Tammy Crookshanks (John) of Green Castle, Pa.; nephews, Michael Vandall (Stacy) of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Christopher Vandall of Meadow Bridge, and Jeremy Dorsey of Rupert; niece, Jennifer Butler (Ed) of Odessa, Mo.; great-nephew, Malakai Butler of Odessa, Mo.; and a devoted caregiver, Doris Bryant of Smoot.
Service was Feb. 13 at Smathers Funeral Chapel, Rainelle, with Pastors Bob Scharnhorst and Keith Shumaker officiating. Burial followed in the Martin Cemetery at Crag.

Devon Brooke Mayes of Beckley, died Feb. 9, 2013.
This tiny someone touched our hearts and left our lives somehow changed forever ... especially the hearts of her parents, Timothy Floyd Mayes Jr. and Crystal Rene Prince-Walker; her grandparents, Bruce and Ginger Prince of Oak Hill, and Debbie Leggett of Beckley; her great-grandmothers, Janet Maynard of Pineville and Kathleen Leggett of Cleveland Ohio; an uncle, Chad Vigilante of Beckley; an aunt, Nicole Prince of Oak Hill; sister, Jordan Taylor Walker of Oak Hill; and cousin, London Swar of Oak Hill.
A graveside service in High Lawn Memorial Park at The Garden of The Last Supper, Oak Hill, was held Feb. 14 with Rev. Pete Lokant officiating.
There will be no visitation.
