Paul J. Burnside

Paul J. Burnside, 85, of Kincaid, died May 4, 2012.

Born June 21, 1926, at Kincaid, he was the son of the late Luther Preston Burnside and Sarah Alice (James) Burnside. Paul also was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Frances Burnside, and a daughter, Rhonda Burnside Sharp. Paul was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Paul loved his family and the great outdoors. Always he could be found in his cherished gardens working the soil; and many times sitting, quietly meditating, and watching it grow. He reveled in the changing seasons, always faithful in housing and feeding his feathered friends. An avid watcher of wildlife, he enjoyed hunting and especially fishing, wetting a line whenever and wherever an opportunity. He enjoyed cooking and was especially proud of dinners from his wood stove. Ever curious and inventive, his unique thinking could always turn nothing into something useful and of value.

Baptized and at peace with God, he will be greatly missed by those that loved him and were a part of his life.

Paul was retired from Norfolk and Western Railroad as a Maintenance-of-Way operator for 38 years.
