— Betty Ann Evans Byrd

Betty Ann Evans Byrd, 64, of Mount Hope, died May 14, 2012, at Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston.

Born Aug. 27, 1947, at Ingram Branch, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Garnett Toney Evans. A sister, Ruby Cox; brother, Gene Evans; brother-in-law, Billy Byrd; and son-in-law, Jackie Coffman, also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Byrd was a member of the New Beginning Apostolic Church at Minden and a homemaker.

Surviving: daughters, Sherry Siemiaczko and husband Robert of Charleston, Sandra Coffman and fiance Terry Milam of Mount Hope, Shelia Bragg and fiance Bobby Johnson of Prudence, Kimberly Duncan and husband Charles of Minden, and Candace Wingate and fiance Avery Munn of Mount Hope; her husband, Bobby Byrd; brother, Elmer Evans of Oak Hill; sisters, Dorothy Settle of Mossy, Hazel Roman of Bradley and Shirley Byrd of Oak Hill; special friends, Michael Wingate and Tammy Lanham; 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were May 18 at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Rev. Gene Evans and Rev. Freddie Parkins officiating. Burial was at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens in Oak Hill.

Tina Jean Cales Carver

Tina Jean Cales Carver, 45, of Taylorsville, N.C., formerly of Oak Hill, died April 17, 2012, at Palliative CareCenter and Hospice of Catawba Valley, following a battle with cancer.

Born Sept. 25, 1966, she was the daughter of Carol and Lonnie Cales of Oak Hill.

Tina was a graduate of Oak Hill High School.

She was a former manager of WalMart in Taylorsville, N.C.

Surviving: her husband, Bill Carver; a son, Adam Davis of Fayetteville; daughters, Jerica Taylor of Fayetteville, Becky and Brittany Carver at home; a brother, Lonnie and Chris Cales of Greenville, S.C.; mother-in-law, Doris Mitchell; brother-in-law, Jerry Carver; sister-in-law, Mary Carver; and a number of nieces and nephews.

There will be a private memorial service at a later date.
