— Mary Morgan

Mary A. Morgan, 91, a resident of Summit Valley Assisted Living, Oak Hill, formerly of Wellsburg, died May 15, 2012.

Mary was born March 9, 1921, in Wishaw, Scotland, daughter of the late Charles and Harriett (Forrester) Hunter. Mary also was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence D. Morgan; her brothers, Robert Hunter and Charles Hunter; and her sister, Janet Hayes.

She was a member of Franklin United Methodist Church, Wellsburg, and the Wellsburg Order of Eastern Star Chapter No. 23.

Mary was a retired employee of West Virginia Department of Welfare.

Surviving: her two loving daughters, Patricia (Thomas) Baird of Novi, Mich., and Marilyn (John) Ferda of Mt. Hope; devoted grandchildren, Robert L. Baird, Thomas A. Baird Jr., Karen Baird, Jonell Ferda Carver, and John Ferda Jr.; and six cherished great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was May 19 at the Franklin United Methodist Church, Wellsburg, with Rev. Carl Tribett officiating. Interment followed at Franklin Cemetery.

Robert ‘Bob’ Leon Phillips

Robert “Bob” Leon Phillips, 67, of Maple Fork, died May 14, 2012, at Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley, of an apparent heart attack.

Born Oct. 27, 1944, at Maple Fork, he was the son of the late Joseph Robert and Nancy Vannoy Phillips. A son, Adam Lilly, and sisters, Joan Carol Meccariello, Ulia Mae Bowyer and Marie O. Clements, also preceded him in death.

He was a retired dairy farmer and retired from Fairchild International with 20 years’ service.

Surviving: son, Robert “Robby” Dale Phillips of Maple Fork; brother, Joseph D. Phillips and wife Lee of Maple Fork; and sisters, Jacqueline “Jackie” Reggi and husband Dwight of Maple Fork, and Mary Jane Tolbert and husband Leslie of Virginia.

Graveside rites and committal service, with burial following, were May 18 at Phillips Cemetery (near the Louden Tyree Cemetery) at Maple Fork, with Rev. Johnny Catlett officiating.
