Linda Cummings

Linda Cummings, CB Handle “10-Pin,” of Oak Hill, formerly of Mansfield, Ohio, died May 31, 2014.

Born Nov. 28, 1941, in Marion, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Chester W. and Audrey F. Turner of Mansfield, Ohio. She also was preceded in death by her loving husband, Tracy Cummings; sons, Gary “ToJoe” Lambert and Gregory “Stringbean” Lambert; sisters, Barbara Turner and Brenda Jolley; half-sister, Doris Kibler; and half-brother, Floyd Van Meter.

Surviving: daughters, Barbara Ortiz and her husband, Raymond, of Scarbro, and Tonya Straitiff and her husband, Darwin, of Windsor, S.C.; son, Rick Lambert and wife Laura of Fayetteville; sisters, Roberta Hess and Margaret Nusbaun, both of Mansfield, Ohio; brothers, Robert Turner of Mansfield, Ohio, Ronald Turner of Perrysville, Ohio and Donald Turner of Galion, Ohio; and 12 grandchildren.

A memorial service was held June 6, at High Lawn Funeral Chapel, Oak Hill, with Jim Spack officiating.

In keeping with her wishes the body was cremated.

Lowell Thomas Darby

Lowell Thomas Darby, 75, of Dry Creek, died June 7, 2014, at Veterans Administration Hospital in Beckley.

Born Nov. 19, 1938, at Kingston, he was the son of the late William and Madeline Wriston Darby.

Lowell was a retired physicist for NASA.

He was a U.S. Air Force veteran.

Surviving: brothers, Jack Darby and wife Bertha of Strongsville, Ohio, and James Darby of Arlington, Texas; sisters, Lynn Ann Conner of Oak Hill and Carolyn Darby Asbury of Dry Creek; nephews, Logan Asbury, James Darby, Bill Darby and Jamie Darby; and nieces, Jacqueline Darby and Karisa Asbury.

Funeral services were June 11 at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Rev. Larry Kinder officiating. Burial was at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, Oak Hill.
