Clark W. Burdette

Clark W. Burdette, 66, of Kilsyth, died June 14, 2012, at his home following a sudden illness.

Born Dec. 12, 1945, at Nallen, he was the son of the late Commodore and Violet Lafferty Burdette. He also was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Toni Y. Burdette; daughter, Alicia Burdette; and half-brother, Bernard Lesher.

Mr. Burdette was a member of the Kilsyth Free Will Baptist Church and also attended other area churches.

He had been employed as a factory worker, construction worker, a butcher, and was skilled in several different trades.

He was a 1964 graduate of Mt. Hope High School and attended Raleigh County Vo-Tech for two years. Clark was also a former member of the West Virginia National Guard.

Mr. Burdette was a resident of Kilsyth for 54 years.

Surviving: daughters, Angela Criss and husband Joey, and Amanda Walker and husband Kevin, all of Mt. Hope; grandchildren, Josh Criss of Mt. Hope, Sydney Criss of Morgantown and Matthew Walker of Welch; brothers, Jerry Burdette of Union, Mo., and Cody Burdette of Logan; sister, Lucille Haynes of Laplata, Md.; and several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Services were June 19 at the Kilsyth Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Jessie Parker and Rev. Bill Bennett officiating. Entombment followed at Highlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, Oak Hill.

Christopher ‘C.J.’ Joseph Davis Jones

Christopher “C.J.” Joseph Davis Jones, 17, of Oak Hill, died June 15, 2012, at Plateau Medical Center in Oak Hill, as the result of injuries received in an automobile accident at Thayer.

Born June 29, 1994, at Beckley, he was the son of Nancy Jones Dempsey of Edmond, and Ricky Davis of Oak Hill, and stepson of John Dempsey of Edmond, and Shana Miller of Summerlee.

His maternal grandparents, Samuel and Deloris Jones preceded him in death.

C.J. would have been a senior at Oak Hill High School.

Surviving, in addition to his parents: sisters, Miranda Jones of MacArthur, Ohio, Peggy Black of Oak Hill and Samantha Davis of Ansted; paternal grandmother, June Davis of Oak Hill; step-grandmother, Connie Tolley of Edmond; and aunts, Sharon Cook and Carol Pozzie, both of Oak Hill.

Funeral services will be on Friday, June 22, at 2 p.m. at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Pastor Mike McGuire officiating. Burial will be at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, Oak Hill. Friends may call from 12 noon until service time on Friday at the funeral home.
