Billy Lee Gunnoe

Billy Lee Gunnoe, 70, of Danese, died Feb. 2, 2014, after a long illness.

Born May 19, 1943, in Rainelle, he was the son of the late Leland and Helen Gunnoe. He also was preceded in death by an infant brother, Larry Gunnoe; sisters, Barbara Moorman of Virginia Beach, Va., and Berneice Queen of Galax, Va.; a daughter, Darleen A. Gunnoe of Smithfield, Pa.; grandson, Alexander D. Gunnoe of Meadow Bridge; brother-in-law, Gary Martin of Springdale; nephew, Steven Martin of Springdale; brother-in-law, Billy Joe Cook; and Rita Windon of Charmco, his daughter-in-law’s mother who Bill dearly loved.

Billy was a loving husband, devoted father, and loving brother.

Bill was a Christian, read his Bible daily and tuned into his favorite TV ministry programs to feed his soul. He gave his heart and soul to Christ many years ago. He never forgot that without God, we are nothing.

His family, friends and others who knew him well, appreciated that he was true to his word, his honesty, and his knowledge in various areas. Second only to the love for his Lord, was the love for his wife and children and family members.

Bill worked as an auto mechanic for many years in Maryland and Washington, D.C. areas, drove a coal truck and eventually settled down as a sort-of horse whisperer; he loved his horses — any size, shape, age or breed.

He enjoyed his tractors, cutting hay in the summer; loved to cut/rack/bale hay more than any man ever known. He loved to trade and swap for just about anything. He enjoyed the company of his many friends, some who visited him regularly such as Mike and Teresa Gilkerson of Layland. Mike was his best buddy in the hayfield; some others include but not limited to: Jerry C., Gary D., Backus, William H. and too many to list.

Bill wanted everyone to know our Lord and Savior ... That’s where the true meaning in life lies for all of us.

Surviving: his wife of 40 years, Nancy Gunnoe of Danese; daughter, Donna L. (Gunnoe) Tranberg and her husband, Jerry, of Whitehall, Wis.; daughter, Diane M. (Gunnoe) Rogers and her husband, Jeff Rogers, of Buckhannon; son, Billy L. Gunnoe and his wife, Lisa, of Dunbar, Pa.; son, Bruce Gunnoe and his wife, Michelle, of McClellandtown, Pa.; son, Randy Gunnoe and his wife, Jennifer (Windon) Gunnoe, of Charmco; son, Robert (Rob) Gunnoe and his wife, Meranda (Ward) Gunnoe, of Meadow Bridge; his grandchildren, Brea and Dalton Gunnoe of Dunbar, Pa., Abby and Bruce Gunnoe of McClellandtown, Pa., Joshua Kayser of Whitehall, Wis., Aaron Sellers of Buckhannon, Andrew J. Gunnoe of Meadow Bridge, Aurora M. Gunnoe of Charmco; Jennifer’s father, Bud Windon of Charmco; Meranda’s parents, Rex and Melinda Ward of Meadow Bridge; sisters, Betty Allen and her husband, Jim Allen, of Shady Spring, Beverly (Sue) Polen of Parish, Fla., Bonnie Martin of Summersville, and Bonita Shinault and Harold of Hillsville, Va.

Service was Feb. 7 at Wallace & Wallace Chapel in Rainelle, with Pastor Steve Martin officiating. Burial followed in Wallace Memorial Cemetery, Clintonville.
