Beulah Pearl Smith Schnake

Beulah Pearl Smith Schnake, 82, of Auburn Hills, Mich., formerly of Kincaid, died Feb. 6, 2014, in Auburn Hills.

She was the daughter of the late Roy and Helen Smith of Kincaid. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Schnake, on July 7, 2012; a brother, Roy Junior of Kincaid; and sisters, Virginia, Betty, Goldie, Helen Ruth and Mary.

Beulah was a long-time resident of Auburn Hills.

Surviving: a daughter, Carol Redman; grandchildren, Kimberly Perrymore and Stacy Thomlinson; five great-grandchildren; brothers, Charles of Kincaid, Darrell and Robert, both of Ohio, Ray of Glen Jean, Billy of Hilltop and John of Kincaid; sister, Reba of Hilltop; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.

Interment was in White Chapel Cemetery, Troy, Mich.

Sarah Emmaline Sexton

Sarah Emmaline (Emma) Sexton, 97, of Fayetteville, died Feb. 6, 2014, at the Barbara Kinley Personal Care Home in Oak Hill.

Born Feb. 21, 1916, Emma was daughter of the late John Henry Sexton and Rosa Victoria Barker Sexton. She also was preceded in death by sisters, Willia Sexton Epperly and Zella Frances (Della) Epperly, and brothers, Rev. Willis Sexton, Arnold Sexton, and Delmar Sexton.

She was a nurse for more than 40 years and retired from Logan General Hospital in 1982.

Surviving: sister, Rosella Goss and her husband, Bob, of Jackson, Mich., and 18 nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Emma’s life was held Feb. 10 at the High Lawn Funeral Chapel, Oak Hill, with Rev. Richard Midkiff officiating. Interment followed in Huse Memorial Park at Fayetteville.

Vera Helen Shortridge

Vera Helen Shortridge, 88, of Victor, died at her home Feb. 9, 2014, following a long illness.

Born Nov. 8, 1925, at Elmo, she was the daughter of the late Roger and Dora Bickford Sweet. She also was preceded in death by sisters, Sarah Leonard, Virginia Bragg, Naomi Meadows, and a brother, Roger Sweet.

Surviving: her husband, Bob Shortridge of Hico; her son, Larry Shortridge and his wife, Betty, of Hico;  grandchildren, Lisa Carrico and husband Donnie and Tresa Miller and husband Mike; and great-grandchildren, Dallas Miller, Delaney, Donnie and Montana Carrico.

Graveside services were held Feb. 12 at Restlawn Memory Gardens, Victor, with Pastor Mike Skaggs officiating.
