Howard Leon Ford

Howard Leon Ford, 91, of Oak Hill, died June 7, 2013, at Bowers Hospice House, Beckley.

Born May 12, 1922, at Oak Hill, he was the son of the late Duffy and Nora Cox Ford. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Lena Wire Ford; brothers, Ralph D. Ford, Jimmy Ford and Harry Ford; and sisters, Evelyn Pronko, Juanita Kendall and Frances Bannister.

He was the former owner of the Jeep franchise in Oak Hill and retired from Blackburn Ford in Oak Hill.

Leon was a member of the Oak Hill United Methodist Church.

He was a 1942 graduate of Oak Hill High School where he played football. He was a 50-year plus charter member of the Oak Hill Civitan Club and a member of the Oak Hill/Collins High School Alumni Association.

He served in the U. S. Army during World War II and was a member of the American Legion.

Surviving: several nephews and nieces, along with several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Services were June 10 at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Dr. Charles D. Miller officiating. Burial  followed at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill, with military honors provided by Oak Hill VFW Post #3110.

Dorothy ‘Dot’ Kirby Jeter

Dorothy “Dot” Kirby Jeter, of Barboursville, formerly of Mount Hope, died June 10, 2013.

Arrangements are incomplete at Tyree Funeral Home, Mount Hope.

Archie C. ‘Cornie’ Lively

Archie C. “Cornie” Lively, 76, of Kincaid, died June 4, 2013, at CAMC - Memorial Division in Charleston.

Born Nov. 22, 1936, at Dothan, he was the son of the late Snowden and Mary O’Neal Lively. Two sisters and two brothers also preceded him in death.

He was a retired coal miner, having worked for U.S. Steel.

Surviving: his wife, Joyce Elswick Lively; daughters, Teresa L. D’Angelo and husband Vince of Oak Hill, and Rose Garcia and husband Paul of Clarksburg; grandchildren, Byron Pate, Drew D’Angelo, Trevor Pate and Alex D’Angelo; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were June 8 at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Rev. David Payne and Rev. Delmas Wolfe officiating. Burial was at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill.
