Laura Wilma Lucas Lilly
Laura Wilma Lucas Lilly, 89, of Fayetteville, died April 12, 2013, at the Fayette Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Fayetteville.
Laura was born on April 9, 1924, in Beaver, the daughter of the late John Henry and Malinda Stewart Lucas. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin C. Lilly of Salem Road; sisters, Virgie Lucas, Pearl Watson, Hazel Johnson, Marie Forinash, Ann Lester, Mary Magdeline Meadows; and a brother, Buster Lucas.
Laura was a homemaker who loved working on their 10-acre farm on Salem Road. She was an avid gardener and one of the best dahlia growers in the state.
She was a member of Loup Creek Baptist Church at Wriston.
Surviving: sons, Gary C. Lilly and wife Nancy of Gatewood; Jerry Wayne Lilly and wife Delores of Fayetteville, Norman Lilly of Fayetteville and Charles “Chuck” Lilly and wife Rebecca of Oak Hill; 8 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were April 15 at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Rev. Mark Wood officiating.

David Lee Preast
David Lee Preast, 68, of Fairfax, Va., died April 15, 2013, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was the beloved husband of Andrea Eastman Preast; the devoted father of Gregory Preast and Candace Preast Hart; son of Elbert and Bernice Preast; brother of Archie, Ron, Billy, Benny, J.D., Jeff, Norma Cole, Connie Linkenhoker, Karen Wood, Kathy Flint, Linda Lowe, and Robin Hannigan; and grandfather of Tyler and Victoria Preast, and Ryan and Kyle Hart.
David was preceded in death by his sister, Janie.
Friends may call at Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home 9902 Braddock Rd., Fairfax, Va., on April 20, from 12 p.m. until the service begins at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Fairfax Memorial Park. Flowers will be accepted, however, memorial contributions in David’s name should be made to The American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org.
