Jerry Don Wickline
Jerry Don Wickline, 71, of Oak Hill, died July 2, 2013, at his home.
Born June 18, 1942, at Oak Hill, he was the son of the late Saylor Gatewood and Evelyn Viola Neubert Wickline.
Jerry was a member of the Jones Avenue Church of God, Oak Hill.
He was a 1960 graduate of Collins High School in Oak Hill and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1960 to 1964.
He was a retired radio broadcaster for WFIS Radio, Simpsonville, S.C. Known as “The Voice of the Golden Strip,” Jerry’s broadcast career spanned nearly three decades. He enjoyed his work and brought much joy to his listeners.
Surviving: his wife, Cheryl Rae Blinn Wickline; sons, Larry Wickline of Corolla, N.C., and Jeff (Dino) Wickline of Los Angeles, Calif.; daughters, Cindy (Scott) Frady of Hickory, N.C., and Kathy Wickline of Simpsonville, S.C.; brother, James (Jackie) Wickline of Fayetteville; sisters, Jeanette (John) Burns of Fayetteville and June (John) Blake of Oak Hill; brother-in-law, Brock (Debbie) Blinn of Danville, Ill.; grandchildren, Jordan Wickline of Florence, S.C., Jeremy Frady, Joy Frady, Sara Frady and Timothy Frady, all of Hickory, N.C., and Josh Wickline of Corolla, N.C.; great-grandchildren, Nolan Wickline of Florence, S.C., and Cassidy Wickline of Corolla, N.C.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were July 6 at the Jones Avenue Church of God in Oak Hill with Pastor Ralph Shupe and Pastor Scott Frady officiating. Burial was at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, Oak Hill, with military graveside rites by Oak Hill VFW Post #3110.
