Atheller Mae Minnis

Ms. Atheller Mae Minnis, 89, of Minden, died March 9, 2014, after a short illness.

Born Sept. 2, 1924, in Glen Jean, she was the daughter of the late Warden and Maggie Lavender Minnis. She also was preceded in death by brothers, McVillar and Warden “Tom” Minnis; sisters, Lorene Minnis, Valara Wilson, and Inez Jones; and grandsons, Leslie Rose and John Steven Ferrell Jr.

Ms. Minnis was a domestic and a member of Minden Pleasant Valley Baptist Church.

Surviving: her children, John Steven “Ricky” (Patricia) Ferrell of Kileen, Texas, and Norma Jean Rose of Minden.

Funeral services were March 14 at Spirit and Truth Ministries, Oak Hill, with Bishop Sam Calloway and Pastor L. Leo Riley officiating. Burial followed in Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, Pea Ridge.

Jessie Marceany Jean Penson and Remington Red Penson

Our precious and much loved babies, Jessie Marceany Jean Penson, 1, and Remington Red Penson, 3 months old, both of Oak Hill, died March 11, 2014.

The children of Kyle Ralph and Ashley Kincaid Penson of Oak Hill, Jessie was born Oct. 22, 2012, at Beckley, and Remington was born Dec. 11, 2013, at Beckley.

Surviving, in addition to their parents: a brother, Kyle Ralph Jager; grandparents, Melinda Kincaid of Oak Hill and Phillip Adkins of Glen Jean; great-grandfather, Ralph Penson of Corning, Ohio; and aunts and uncles, Josh, Doug and Danny Kincaid and Harold and Kathy Miller, all of Oak Hill.

Joint funeral services were March 15 at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill, with Pastor Bill Fedukovich officiating. Cremation followed the service.

Warren Cecil Stanley

Warren Cecil Stanley, 69, of Scarbro, died March 12, 2014.

He was born on Aug. 5, 1944, in Winfield, Kan., the son of the late Waren and Marie Stanley and his mother, Gladys Devitts.. He also was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Stanley.

He was a truck driver by profession and a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam era having served in Munich, Germany.

Surviving: daughter, Christina Stanley, and son, Steven Stanley, of Scarbro; brothers, Jeff, Rick, Tommy, Jerry, Hamy; sisters, Lori, Kim, Dede, Tracy and Angela, all of Kincaid, and Charlie and Brenda of Texas; and grandchildren, Jack Pizzino and Steven Stanley.

Services were March 15 at High Lawn Funeral Chapel, Oak Hill, with Pastor Bobby Adkins officiating. Interment followed in Gethsemane Memorial Gardens.
