Effie Louise Cottle Spencer

Effie Louise Cottle Spencer, 78, of Fayetteville, died March 23, 2014.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 29, at Fayetteville United Methodist Church with Rev. Clare Sulgit-Horn officiating. Burial will follow at Huse Memorial Park, Fayetteville.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, March 28 at Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home, Fayetteville.

Thelma Mae Settle Stover

Thelma Mae Settle Stover, 93, of Covington, Va., formerly of Mossy, died March 22, 2014, at The Brian Center in Lowmoor, Va.

Born July 31, 1920, at Sun, she was the daughter of the late Oliver and Cansie Aliff Settle. Her husband, Perry Gray Stover, preceded her in death on Feb. 25, 2013.

Mrs. Stover was a member of the Mossy Living Word Church. She was a homemaker.

Surviving: son, Roger Gray Stover and wife Angela of Covington; sister, Catherine Wriston of Oak Hill; grandchildren, Amanda Griffith and husband Kevin of Covington, Scott Schell of Concord, Va., and Barry Schell of Covington; great-grandchildren, Riley Griffith, Natalie Griffith, Wyatt Griffith, Mikey Hinkle, Brandon Schell and Josh Schell; and a special niece, Carol Ford of Scarbro, as well as several other nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were March 26 at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Pastor Paul Basham and Pastor Deb Washer officiating. Burial was at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity.

William Blaine Tyree

William Blaine Tyree, 84, of Scarbro, died March 19, 2014, at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley.

Born June 29, 1929, at Westerly, he was the son of the late William Blaine Tyree and Tinnis Margaret Rinehart Tyree Hall. Two brothers, Billy Tyree and Wayne Hall, and a sister, Donna Christensen, also preceded him in death.

Mr. Tyree was a member of the Fairview United Methodist Church, Kingston.

After having worked in the West Virginia coal mines, Mr. Tyree moved to Illinois where he worked in a manufacturing plant for 28 years.

A great family man, he was a huge genealogy buff.

Surviving: his wife of 63 years, Shirley Ann Sandy Tyree; daughters, Karen Schultz and husband Mark of Napierville, Ill., Susan Kline and husband Steve of New Lenox, Ill., Reanna Tyree of New Lenox, Ill., and Alesia Wagner and husband Mai “Tyree” of Chicago, Ill.; brothers, Nick Hall and wife Joyce and Joey Hall and wife Margaret, all of Mossy; sisters, Wanda Thompson of Paint Creek, Rosemary Waldron of Plainfield, Ill., and Jane Bell of West Palm Beach, Fla.; sisters-in-law, Jean Tyree of Ohio and Sandra Hall of East Kingston; brother-in-law, Roger Christensen of Gardner, Ill.; grandchildren, Alaina Odenthal, Blaine Kline and wife Lindsay, Matthew Kline, Christopher Schultz, Kelly Benton and husband Ryan and Maya Wagner Tyree; and great-grandson, Harrison Blaine Kline.

Funeral services were March 22 at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill, with Rev. Arolette Stover officiating. Burial was at Rinehart Cemetery, Mossy.

The family requests memorial contributions be made to Bowers Hospice House, 454 Cranberry Drive, Beckley WV 25801.
