Gina Adkins

Gina Ann Adkins, 39, of Oak Hill, died Jan. 6, 2013, at home.

Born Jan. 21, 1973, at Montgomery, she was the daughter of the late Gracie Mae Adkins.

Gina was a homemaker.

Surviving: daughters, Andrea Hanshew and Melissa Slaughter; son, Timothy Fischer; grandchildren, Hailey Hanshew, Joshua Hanshew II and Waylon Thorn; brothers, Ronnie Adkins and John Adkins; and step-dad, Grover Carter.

A private service was held and she was cremated. Burial will be in Huse Memorial Park, Fayetteville, at a later date.

Irene Beni

Irene Beni, 93, of Fayetteville, died Jan. 14, 2013, surrounded by family.

Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, at Oak Hill United Methodist Church, followed by private burial graveside rites at Huse Memorial Park, Fayetteville, with Dr. Charles Miller officiating.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the New River Humane Society; PO Box 955; Fayetteville, WV  25840.

William Cyrus Cooke Jr.

William Cyrus Cooke Jr., 69, of Oak Hill, died Jan. 13, 2013, at the Beckley VAMC.

Born May 3, 1943, at Oak Hill, he was the son of the late William Cyrus Cooke Sr., and Ella Marie (Burgess) Cooke. William also was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Jennings.

He served in the U.S. Air Force.

He worked as an office business manager for a trucking and shipping company.

Surviving: his son, John “Billy” Cooke of Richmond, Va.; brothers, Charles Cooke of Oak Hill and Russell Cooke of Clarksburg; and sisters, Fonda Thomas and her husband, Tom, of Richmond, and Adrian Goff and her companion, Dick, of Fayetteville.

Funeral service was Jan. 15 at High Lawn Funeral Home Chapel, Oak Hill, with Rev. David Edwards officiating. Interment followed in High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill.
