Scottie Wayne Fox

Scottie Wayne Fox, 44, of Oak Hill, died April 12, 2012, at Plateau Medical Center in Oak Hill.

Born Jan. 16, 1968, in Cleveland, Ohio, he was the son of the late Elmer Mason Fox and Violet Lucille Jones Haga.

Scottie was a disabled produce delivery truck driver for Crooks Produce.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran.

Surviving: daughter, Jennifer Fox of Fayetteville; son, Mason Fox of Fayetteville; and a brother, Elmer Mason “Ben” Fox III and wife Kara of Barto, Pa.

Funeral services were April 16 at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill, with Rev. Delbert Walker officiating. Burial was at Restlawn Memory Gardens, Ansted.

Edgar Lee ‘Eddie’ Rice

Edgar Lee “Eddie” Rice, 78, of Beaver, died April 10, 2012, following a two-week battle with cancer.

Born July 10, 1933, in Beards Fork, he was the son of the late Frank and Martha Williamson Rice. He also was preceded in death by his loving wife, Betty Johnson Rice; a son, Joel Kent Rice; a sister, Merrill Charlotte Cochran; and a niece, Rebecca Cochran Humphrey.

He was a United States Air Force veteran, and retired as the Director of Maintenance for the Fayette County Board of Education.

Eddie loved being outdoors, especially with family and close friends at their hunting camp in Pendleton County.

He was also an active member of the Carlisle First Church of God. The true joy of his life was his grandchildren.

Surviving: his daughter, Stephanie Lea Sullivan and husband Syd of Beckley; grandchildren, Emily Catherine Lively, John Lawrence Lively, and Ashby Joel Sullivan; sisters-in-law, Jerry Markham and husband Michael of Beaver, and Catherine Wolford of Prosperity; nephews, Tom Cochran of Ohio, and Terry Gilkerson of Prosperity; a niece, Jeri Radford and husband Allen of Beckley; and a host of great-nieces and nephews and beloved friends.

Services was April 14 in the Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley, with Pastor Richard Allen officiating. Burial followed in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Military graveside rites were conducted by the Oak Hill VFW.
