Mrs. Iris Shaffer, 72, of Elgin, S.C., a native of Graydon, died April 8, 2012.
Born in Graydon, she was the daughter of the late Russell and Annie Willis Kelly. She also was preceded in death by sisters, Nellie Thomas and Florence Reed.
She was retired from Allied Chemical Company.
Surviving: her husband, Bobby Shaffer of Elgin; children, Sherlyn Gentner of Conway, S.C., Christopher Shaffer (Christy) of Lugoff and Barbara Pierce (Jeff) of Elgin; grandson, Dylan Shaffer; sisters, Russie Holtsclaw of Edmond, and Elizabeth Hohensee and Rose Waycaster (Bruce), both of Hopewell, Va.; brothers, Russell Kelly Jr. (Ruby) and Billy Kelly, both of Lookout, and Dennis Willis (Yung) of Columbia, S.C.
A graveside service to celebrate the life of Iris Shaffer was held April 11 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Pastor Jeff Grubbs officiating.

Gary Allen Sharp Sr.
Gary Allen Sharp Sr., 62, of Minden, died April 8, 2012, at Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, from burns received in an accidental fire at his home.
Born June 24, 1949, at Charleston, he was the son of Jean D. Vanover Sharp of Oak Hill, and the late Allen Ray Sharp. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a twin sister, Gail Sharen Sharp; grandparents, William and Pearl Potter Terchek; and his best friend, Matt Jones.
Gary was a U.S. Marine Corps Vietnam era veteran.
He had worked as a machinist in California.
He loved the outdoors, riding his Harley, was a member of the Chubs Brothers Harley Club and was an avid NASCAR fan.
Surviving, in addition to his mother: his loving wife, Angela Sears Sharp; son, Gary Allen Sharp Jr. and wife Robbin; daughter, A. Juanita Jones; brothers, Darrell Sharp, Bill Sharp, and Michael Sharp; sisters, Annetta Sharp and Pearl Baxter; grandchildren, Gary Allen “Tre” Sharp III, C. Matthew Dalton Jones, William Wyatt Sharp, and A. Miranda Danielle Jones; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and friends.
Mr. Sharp was cremated. A memorial service will be on Sunday, June 24, at 2 p.m. at the Sharp residence in Minden.
