Charles ‘Chuck’ D. Stover

Charles “Chuck” D. Stover, 65, of Osceola, Ind., died April 9, 2012, at Elkhart General Hospital.

Born Sept. 30, 1946, in Minden, he was the son of the late Harold E. and Macie M. Gray Stover. He also was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Thomas Stover.

Chuck was a private pilot and he enjoyed restoring old cars. He was a loving father who loved spending time with his family and talking to old friends, especially his childhood buddy, David “Wimp” Duncan of Minden.

Chuck worked for Hurwich Iron from 1968 till 1980. He was the owner of Chuck Mann’s Service for 25 years. He then worked part-time as a delivery driver for Hoffman Brother’s.

On April 22, 1967, in South Bend, he married Kathleen A. Toombs. She survives along with three children, Charles E. Stover and Melissa M. Stover, both of Osceola, and Elizabeth Ashlea Stover of Mishawaka, Ind.; grandchildren, Lucas Stover, Alexandra Stover, Jaiden DeBroka and Baizel Stover; and sisters, Lois Brinson of Craigsville, Gaye (Tom) Massey of Gatewood, Peggy (Dave) Bianco of Canfield, Ohio, and Sharon VanBuren of Belleville, Mich.

Cremation will take place at Elkhart Cremation Services and a memorial service will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be given to the charity of your choice.

Doris A. Thorpe

Doris A. Thorpe, 81, of Ansted, died at her home April 15, 2012, following a long illness.

Juanita Virginia Walton

Juanita Virginia Walton, 85, of Mansfield, Texas, formerly of Mt. Hope, died April 5, 2012.

Born July 3, 1926, in Mt. Hope, she was the daughter of the late Charles A. Scott and Nettie Ross. She also was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Robert Lee Walton; grandmother, Betty Ross; and sisters, Betty Payne, Jacqueline Woodson and George Ann Wooley.

Surviving: her daughter, Karen (Rev. James) Johnson of Mansfield, Texas;  brother, Howard “Red” (Kathleen) Scott; sister, Alice Poindexter; nieces, Kim (Greg) Cartwright, Gail (Keith) Ward, and Michelle Belk; nephews, Charles Darrell (Lisa) Patterson and David Archie; special cousins, Charles Ross, Laura “Cissy” (Warren) Pitts, James (Diane) Ross; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were April 14 at United Missionary Baptist Church, Mt. Hope, with Rev. Phillip E. Copney Sr. officiating. Burial followed in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity.
