Sarah Nickole Adkins

Sarah Nickole Adkins, 36, died March 26, 2012, at Bowers Hospice House.

George Amos

George Amos, 82, of Oak Hill, died March 28, 2012, at Plateau Medical Center, Oak Hill.

Born Sept. 24, 1929, at Cunard, he was the son of the late George and Lilia Kincaid Amos. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Jean Totten Amos; and a brother, Odis Amos.

Surviving: children, Karen Sue Mochoruk of Chicago, Ill., George Ed Amos of Oak Hill, Gary W. Amos of Chicago, Randall B. Amos of Oak Hill and Lois Ann Amos of Fayetteville; brother, Lowell Amos; sisters, Flora Leek and Jeanette Stawychey; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were April 2 at Tyree Funeral Home Chapel in Oak Hill with Rev. Ralph Shupe officiating. Burial followed at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill.

John Arnold

John Arnold, 83, of Millington, Tenn., formerly of Cannelton, died March 26, 2012.

He was born July 17, 1928.

Graveside services were April 2 at the Settle Family Cemetery at Lansing.

Juanita Austin

Mrs. Juanita Austin, 88, of Hilltop, died March 26, 2012.

Funeral services were April 1 at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, Carlisle, with Rev. Charles Brown officiating. Burial followed at Highlawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill.

John Robert ‘Chip’ Brandstetter

John Robert Brandstetter, 28, of Fitzpatrick Road, formerly of Danese, died March 30, 2012, following a 4-wheeler accident.

Born Aug. 20, 1983, he was the son of Jimmy Dale Brandstetter and Judy Eileen Kennel Brandstetter.

John was preceded in death by his grandma, Ruth Brandstetter; and grandparents, Albert and Mary Kennel.

John worked as a dispatcher at Greenbrier Smokeless Mines.

He loved spending time with his family and friends, sitting around an outside fire, riding 4-wheeler, hunting, fishing, and umpiring baseball.

Surviving: his loving wife, Brittney; children, John Jr. and Christian; his parents, Jimmy and Judy Brandstetter of Layland; mother- and father-in-law, Arlie and Susan Gwinn; brother, Jimmy Brandstetter of Layland; sister, Mary Sawyers; brother, James Sawyers of Danese; nephews, Trevor and Jayden Sawyers; niece, McKinze Sawyers; grandpa, Bobby Brandstetter of Layland; aunt, Mona and Timmy Hankins of Layland; uncle, Tim and Tammy Brandstetter of Danese; uncle, Greg and Jamie Brandstetter of Danese; and uncle, Alan Brandstetter of Danese; there are many family members that are too numerous to list that will cherish his memories.

Services were April 3 at the Chestnut Knob Baptist Church in Layland. Following the services John was rest at his parents’ home on Chestnut Knob Road.
