Genevieve Smith Bennett

Genevieve Smith Bennett, 84, of Fayetteville, died Feb. 18, 2014, at Hebrew Home of Greater Washington, Rockville, Md.

Funeral services were held Feb. 21 at Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home, Fayetteville. Burial followed at Huse Memorial Park, Fayetteville.

James Bickford

James Franklin Bickford, 69, of Fayetteville, died Feb. 22, 2014, at Hidden Valley Center, Oak Hill.

Born March 15, 1944, at Beckwith, he was the son of the late Robert and Fannie Holly Bickford. He also was preceded in death by his infant brothers, Bobby and Tommy Bickford, and brother, Ronnie Bickford.

He was a retired mill worker at Helstrom Steel Mill in Chicago, Ill.

Surviving: his wife, Bonnie Bickford of Fayetteville; son, Jimmy Wayne Bickford; brothers, Charles (Mary “Snookie”) Bickford of Hilltop, Leo Bickford of Chicago, Jack (Margaret Ann) of Oak Hill, and Leonard (Anna) Bickford of Minden; sisters, Frances (Jerry Jones) Giles of Beckley, Trudy Bickford of Fayetteville, Louise (David) Gillespie of Beckwith, and Lisa Gaye (Jerry) Bess of Pinnacle, N.C.; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Funeral services were held Feb. 26 at Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home, Fayetteville, with Rev. Ken Souder officiating. Burial followed at the Adkins-Pate Cemetery in Crow Hollow at Beckwith.

Margaret Crowley

Margaret Crowley, 88, of Victor, died Feb. 21, 2014, at Plateau Medical Center, following a long illness.

Born July 12, 1925, in Durbin, she was a daughter of the late Belcher Eary and Anna Tyree.

Mrs. Crowley was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church of Ansted and a retired secretary for Fayette County Board of Education.

Surviving: her husband of 67 years, Jasper Crowley of Victor; a daughter, Dorinda Taylor of Victor; grandchildren, Amy Taylor and James Taylor; great-grandchildren, Maggie Taylor and Adrianna Lester; and a sister, Ethel Leggett of Baltimore, Md.

Funeral services were Feb. 24 at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home in Ansted, with Pastor Gerald Kincaid officiating. Entombment followed at the Chapel of Rest Mausoleum in Victor.
