Boyd Murphy Jr.

The family of Boyd “Corky” Murphy Jr., invite friends and family to celebrate his life Sunday, June 28, at The Cornerstone Inn in Rainelle from 1 to 3 p.m.

The precious first born son of Mary Murphy and the late Boyd Murphy, Corky began his life Jan. 11, 1946, in Minden, and left Jan. 9, 2009. Corky passed over at 6:35 p.m. after his fight with cancer was lost. He was at his home in Cleveland, Ohio, surrounded by his loving family.

At his request, Corky was cremated. Arrangements were handled by F.J. Corrigan Funeral Home in Cleveland, Ohio.

Corky, a resident of Cleveland for many years was a true jack-of-all-trades. He would always greet you with a smile and a kind word that was often followed with a hug or a kiss. He made the best of every day by finding joy in the simple things in life, like a good cup of coffee in the morning while sitting on his mother’s front porch or a nice cold one after a long day of work. He loved spending time around his dining room table, or relaxing at his camp with his family and friends.

We find comfort knowing Corky is with God in his eternal home. He is having a reunion with his father, Boyd Murphy, brother-in-law, Dee and other loved ones, talking politics, rejoicing and waiting fort he rest of us to cross over.

Survivors include his soul mate and wife of 36 years Tami Murphy of Cleveland, Ohio; his dear son, Boyd Thomas Murphy of Brunswick, Ohio; devoted daughter, Autumn N. (Murphy) Martinez and husband Ricardo of Cleveland; his cherished grandchildren, Christy L. Murphy, Amber M. Murphy, Alexis W. White, Kenneth W. White Jr., and Ricardo L. Martinez, his sweet mother, Mary Murphy of Rainelle; brother, Virgil Murphy and wife Sandra of Dublin, Va.; sisters Linda Bowling and husband Norman of Cleveland; Lana Rowe and husband Mitchelle of Muncie, Ind.; Barbara Cordial and husband Keith of Rainelle; Katherine White and husband Kevin of Norman, Okla. and Lisa Propps and companion Kenneth of Lilly Park; nephews, Richard and Edward Rowe, Keith Cordial Jr., Christopher White, and Melvin (Bo) Propps; nieces, Michelle Bowling, Terri and Tammy Murphy, LaTosha Penner, Sara Cordial, Destiny, Rivers and Haden Propps.

At best, life is too short, take time to enjoy life as Corky did, rejoice each day, and don’t sweat the small stuff.
