Sherman G. Calvert
Sherman Glen Calvert, 69, of Fayetteville, died Aug. 15, 2013, at CAMC Memorial Division, Charleston.
Born Sept. 19, 1943, at Fayetteville, he was the son of the late Harry and Rosie Bumgardner Calvert. He also was preceded in death by his brothers, Victor Calvert and Alfred Calvert.
Sherman was a member of Harvey Chapel Methodist Church.
He was a retired custodian at Oak Hill Baptist Church with over 25 years of service.
Surviving: his wife, Phyllis Calvert of Fayetteville; daughters, Tammy (Carl) Stone of Pocahontas County and Annette (Glenn) Evans of Hilltop; son, Harry (Rachel) Calvert of Summerlee; grandchildren, Brandon Stone, Lindsey Stone, Travis Evans, Vencent Evans, and Josie Evans; great-granddaughter, Myleigh Evans; sisters, Vonna Kincaid of Vienna, Va., Isabelle Stone of Columbus, Ohio, Martha Lee Sydnor of Fayetteville, Shelby Harler of Winchester, Va., and Shirley Gryzb of Cleveland, Ohio; and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services were Aug. 20 at Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home, Fayetteville, with Rev. Ronnie Persinger and Rev. Bobby Pauley officiating. Burial followed at Huse Memorial Park, Fayetteville.

Charles Oliver Dower
Charles Oliver Dower, 70, of Oak Hill, died Aug. 14, 2013, at CAMC Memorial Division in Charleston.
Born Nov. 1, 1942, at Mount Hope, he was the son of the late William Clifford and Nettie May Bane Dower.
He was a retired carpenter for Vecellio and Grogan.
Surviving: children, Rosalie Molly Jarvis and husband Denver of Mount Hope, Jason Oliver Dower and wife Mary Beth of Ansted, Loretta Mitchell and husband Timothy and Clifford Dower and wife Ranjani of Mount Hope; the mother of his children, Bessie May Miller Dower; grandchildren, Harlan Wayne Elder III, Daniel David II, Clifford Dower II and Ronald Dower; and two brothers.
Funeral services were Aug. 17 at Tyree Funeral Home in Mount Hope with Sister Molly Jarvis officiating. Mr. Dower was cremated following the service.
