Betty Lou Hatfield Cheyne

Betty Lou Hatfield Cheyne, 76, of Danese, died Nov. 2, 2013, at Heartland of Rainelle following a long illness.

Born March 24, 1937, in Beelick Knob, she was the daughter of the late Robert Lee Hatfield and Claredith Reedy McClanahan.

Betty loved cooking and her flowers and was a member of the Assembly of God Church.

She worked in manufacturing as an electronics assembler for 30 years in New York and Virginia.

Surviving: her husband, William “Bill” Cheyne; a half-sister, Dolly Hogge of Newport News, Va.; and brothers, George Alva Hatfield and wife Patricia of Danese and Patrick Henry Hatfield of Fayetteville.

Services were Nov. 6 at the Wallace & Wallace Chapel in Rainelle, with Rev. Sherman McCombs officiating. Interment followed in Wallace Memorial Cemetery, Clintonville.

Russell E. ‘Rusty’ Edwards Jr.

Russell E. “Rusty” Edwards Jr., 62, of Oak Hill, died Nov. 2, 2013, at CAMC - Memorial Division in Charleston.

Born Aug. 10, 1951, at Oak Hill, he was the son of the late Russell E. Edwards Sr. and Etta Jean Holdren Edwards. His wife, Virginia Lynn Edwards, and a special sister, Dori Saunders, also preceded him in death.

He was a construction crane operator.

Rusty was a motorcycle enthusiast and and avid fisherman and hunter.

He was a 1969 graduate of Collins High School in Oak Hill. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam Conflict.

Surviving: his son, Jeremy Edwards of Amherst, Va.; his daughter, Kari Jean Edwards of Madison Heights, Va.; grandchildren, Katlin Doss, Raven Brewer, BriAnna Skylar Edwards and Jeremy Edwards Jr.; a sister, Susan Edwards of Fayetteville; and a special niece, Robin Thomas DiBartolomeo and family.

Rusty has been cremated. A memorial service will be on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 2 p.m. at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Pastor Scott Farnsworth officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Red Cross, Fayette-Nicholas Chapter, PO Box 355, Oak Hill WV 25901 for first aid education.
