Christelle Laverne Slemp Bailey

Christelle Laverne Slemp Bailey, 99, of Oak Hill, died Aug. 6, 2012, at Hilltop Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Hilltop.

Born July 26, 1913, at Olinger, Va., she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Rebecca Reasor Slemp. Her husband, Harold Bailey, also preceded her in death.

She was a homemaker.

Surviving: daughters, Pauletta Bess of Oak Hill and Phyllis Wallace of New Port News, Va.; grandchildren, Christopher W. Via, Jeffrey H. Wallace of New Port News, Va., Kevin A. Bess of Oak Hill, and Craig E. Bess of Shady Spring; and 10 great grandchildren.

Per her request, Mrs. Bailey's body was donated to the Human Gift Registry at the WV School of Osteopathic Medicine in Lewisburg.

Family and friends gathered for a visitation at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill on Aug. 8.

Delbert Lee Brant

Delbert Lee Brant of Danese died Aug. 9, 2012, at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center following a long illness.

Born Nov. 1, 1939, in Lewisburg, he was the son of the late Ema Edward Brant, and Mary Jack Brant. Delbert also was preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly Redden Morrell; a sister Evelyn Blankenship; and his brother, Edward Brant.

He was retired from the auto industry where he was a factory worker for General Motors.

He attended the Faith Free Will Baptist Church of Danese.

He also enjoyed gardening and yard work.

Surviving: his wife, Karen Simms Brant; daughters, Debra Brant of Meadow Bridge, Sharon Kupferer and husband Brian of Phoenix, Ariz., and Karen Martin of Danese; sons, Rick Redden and his wife, Stephanie, of Rainelle, and Jesse Redden of Danese; a sister, Phyllis Dawson and husband Dewey of Parkersburg; and 5 grandsons, 3 granddaughters, and 3 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Aug. 13 at the Faith Free Will Baptist Church in Danese. Burial followed at Simms Family Cemetery on Loops Road in Danese with Pastor Allen Whitt officiating.
