Nora Evelyn Williams Covey

Nora Evelyn Williams Covey, 100, of Rock, died Sept. 23, 2012, at Princeton Community Hospital in Princeton.

Born Oct. 10, 1911, at Willis Branch, she was the daughter of the late Willie and Elsie Phillips Williams. Her husband, Clarence Covey; sisters, Dorcas Kuhn and Hattie Bennett; and brothers, Harmon Williams, Cecil Williams, Russell Williams and Wilburn Williams, also preceded her in death.

Nora was a member of the Weirwood Community Church and faithfully attended the Rich Creek Baptist Church in Spanishburg. She was a homemaker.

Surviving: her son, Shirley Humphrey and wife Garnet of Rock; sisters, Barbara Hartzell of Baltimore, Md., Stella Britt of New London, Ohio, and Mabel Mitchem of Beckley; grandchildren, Shirlene “Jane” Westrope and husband Walt of Lexington, Tenn., and Patricia Davis and husband Ike of Rock; and a great-grandson, Andre Buck and wife Becky of Rock.

Funeral services were Sept. 26 at Tyree Funeral Home, in Mount Hope, with Pastor Tom Lilly and Pastor Ralph Calfee officiating. Burial was at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Hospice Compassus, 120 Shaker Lane, Princeton, WV 24740.

Cheri Semple Cusumano

Cheri Semple Cusumano, 52, of McLean, Va., died suddenly Sept. 18, 2012, from an automobile accident.

Cheri is the loving and devoted wife of 22 years to Dr. Joseph Cusumano; cherished mother of Michael, John and Laura; daughter of James and Janet Semple of Oak Hill; sister of Marcia Semple (Ron) Gattoni of Virginia, and Gregg (Kim) Semple of West Virginia. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Zachary and Cassandra Semple of West Virginia, James Peruzza of New York and Rachel Gattoni of Maryland; daughter-in-law of Katherine and the late Joseph Cusumano; sister-in-law of Kathleen Cusumano (Clint Allnach) and Jennifer Cusumano, both of New York, and numerous friends.

Cheri’s life celebration was held Sept. 23 at Money and King Funeral Home, Vienna, Va. A mass of Christian burial was celebrated at St. Luke Catholic Church, McLean, Va., on Sept. 24. Interment followed at Andrew Chapel Cemetery in Vienna.
