Jeremy Allen Ferrell

Jeremy Allen Ferrell, 34, of Layland, died Sept. 18, 2012, following a sudden illness.

Born Feb. 3, 1978, in Beckley, he was the son of Roger “Dennis” and the late Belinda Ferrell.

He was a lineman for over 14 years and was currently employed by H.G. Carte Electric.

Jeremy was an amazing husband, father, son, grandson, brother, nephew, uncle and friend. He loved coaching little league football and basketball, and he touched so many young lives. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Surviving: his loving wife of 11 wonderful years, Gina Barnett Ferrell; a daughter, Gracie Ferrell, and a son, Grant Ferrell, both at home; a sister, Lisa Ferrell-Kesterson and husband Larry of Mount Nebo; a brother, RD Ferrell and wife April of Victor; along with numerous family members and friends.

Services were Sept. 22 at Chestnut Knob Baptist Church in Layland, with Pastor Floyd Bolen officiating. Burial followed in the Layland Cemetery.

Imogene Gwinn

Imogene Gwinn of Meadow Bridge died Sept. 17, 2012, following a long illness.

Mrs. Gwinn was born on Feb. 25, 1927, at Meadow Creek, daughter of the late Arthur and Rufina Smith. She also was preceded in death by her brothers, Clyde, Theo, Roy and Forrest; and sisters, Margaret and Anna Mae.

She was a longtime member of Lane United Methodist Church and was an active member of her community.

Surviving: her husband of 65 years, Jack V. Gwinn; daughter, Judy Thomas and husband Dave of Linden, Va.; son, Michael S. Gwinn and wife Sherry of Beckley; grandchildren, Michael S. Gwinn II of Whitesville, and Lana M. Gwinn of Ghent; beautiful great-grandchildren, Maura Brooke Flowers and Jenna Marie Flowers of Ghent; sister, Mary Ellen Richmond of Grandview; and many nieces and nephews.

Service was Sept. 20, at Wallace & Wallace Chapel in Rainelle, with Pastor Roger L. Booth officiating. Entombment followed at Wallace Memorial Mausoleum at Clintonville.
