Frances Evelyn Cox Williams Johnston

Frances Evelyn Cox Williams Johnston, 76, of Oak Hill, died Sept. 22, 2012, at Plateau Medical Center following a short illness.

Born June 22, 1936, in Hix, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Elizabeth Bragg Cox. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Joe Williams Sr., in 1995; her daughter, Kay Lanham; son, Jerry Dean Williams; grandson, Tommy Walton Mullins Jr.; great-grandson, Tyler Curtiss Hubbard; sister, Mary Lee Smith; and brother, Paul Cox.

Surviving: daughters, JoAnn Mullins of Mossy and Debra Hylton of Coal City; son, Tommy Joe Williams Jr. of Salem Gatewood Road; 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Ann Shifflet of Winchester, Va.; her husband, Herman Johnston; his daughter, Angela Miller; sons, Brian Johnston and Michael Nowlin; and seven grandchildren.

Funeral services were Sept. 26 at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill, with Rev. Paul Basham officiating. Burial followed at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, Oak Hill.

Dolly M. Ross Whitlock

Dolly M. Ross Whitlock, 96, of Oak Hill, died Sept. 20, 2012, at Plateau Medical Center in Oak Hill.

Born May 5, 1916, at Glen Jean, she was the daughter of the late John Franklin and Mary Thurbon Ross. Her husband, William Jennings Whitlock; sister, Margaret Dove; and brothers, Vance Ross, Edgar Ross and John Franklin Ross, also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Whitlock was a member of the Oak Hill United Methodist Church where she attended the Rebecca Bible Class and was a member of the 3 Fs.

Surviving: children, William “Butch” Whitlock and wife Janice of Oak Hill and Melissa Jane Charnabay and husband Jay of Oak Hill, grandson, Stephen Douglas Whitlock and wife Mary of Westfield, N.J.; great-grandchildren, Riley Frances Whitlock, and Bridget Mary Whitlock, both of Westfield, N.J.; and a stepgrandson, Dan Wickens of Westfield, N.J.

Funeral services were Sept. 22, at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill, with Dr. Charles Miller officiating. Burial was at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill.
