Michael Delbert Daniels

Michael Delbert Daniels, 50, of Mount Hope, died March 5, 2012, at Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley.

Born Jan. 8, 1962, at Mount Hope, he was the son of the late Dan Delbert and Ruby Ethel Williams Daniels. Brothers Ronnie Dale Daniels and Bruce Wayne Daniels, and a sister-in-law, (Terry’s wife) Loretta Daniels, also preceded him in death.

Michael was an assistant manager with NAPA for 34 years.

He was of the Protestant faith.

Surviving: son, Brandon Daniels and wife Patricia of Princeton; brother, Terry Daniels of Crab Orchard; sister, Deborah Navicki and husband Mike of Hilltop; sister-in-law, Susan Daniels of Kentucky; granddaughter, Breanna Daniels of Princeton; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were March 9 at Tyree Funeral Home in Mount Hope with Pastor Ken Souder officiating. Burial was at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity.

Delena L. Wilburn Eastman

Delena L. Wilburn Eastman, 90, of Fayetteville, died March 7, 2012.

Born Feb. 23, 1922, in Ansted, she was the daughter of the late Curbert Gilham and Goldie Elsie Neal Wilburn. Delena also was preceded in death by her husband, Ezra Eastman.

Delena was a member of the Beckley United Pentecostal Church in Beckley and was a homemaker.

Surviving: brothers, Stanley Wilburn and his wife, Janice, of Amissville, Va., and Richard Wilburn and his wife, Margaret, of Dearborn, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were March 10 at the Wallace & Wallace Chapel in Ansted with Pastor Robert Poole officiating. Burial followed in Restlawn Memory Gardens at Victor.

Shirley T. Elliott

Shirley T. Elliott, 79, of Rainelle, died March 8, 2012, at her home following a short illness.

Born June 5, 1932, in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of the late Vernon and Florence Wega Jordan. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Theresa Joyce Clark, and her brother, Edward D. Jordan.

Shirley drove a school bus before retiring to West Virginia.

She was a member of the Sewell Valley Baptist Church and the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post #4484 in Rainelle. Shirley loved to “people watch.”

Surviving: her husband of 64 years, Robert Elliott; son, James Rodger Elliott of Rainelle; daughters, Janet Elliott of Virginia, Sheila Shifflett of Maryland and Cynthia Elliott of Mt. Hope; grandchildren, Michael Sill of Mt. Hope, Brandi Arthur of Arizona, Justin and Jordan; and great-granddaughters, Kaitlyn Sill and Leah Arthur.

Services were March 10 at Smathers Funeral Chapel with Brother Ken Brackman officiating. Burial followed in the Sewell Valley Baptist Church Cemetery in Rainelle.
