Joan Elsie ‘Jo’ Ellison

Joan Elsie “Jo” Ellison, 84, of Hico, died March 6, 2012, following a long illness.

Born Jan. 12, 1928, at Hico, she was the daughter of the late Charles Elmer and Ora Ellen McCutcheon Kessler. Joan also was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon “Sam” Lee Ellison, in 1996.

Joan was a member of the Sunday Road Baptist Church where she was the longest living member. She loved the Lord, her family and her church.

She was a homemaker.

Surviving: her son, John Ellison and his wife, Debbie, of Hico; sister, June Gilson of Atlanta, Ga.; brother, John Kessler of Hico; grandchildren, Chad Ellison and Rainer Kernan of Bozeman, Montana, and Cari Jo Tompkins and husband Casey of Hico; and great-grandchildren, Westley Vernon Ellison and Sage Eagle Ellison of Bozeman, and Malayla Joye Thompkins and Cruz Hollis Thompkins, both of Hico.

Funeral services were March 9 at the Sunday Road Baptist Church at Hico with Pastor Allen Donaldson officiating. Burial followed in Restlawn Memory Gardens at Victor.

Ronald Caperton Forren

Ronald Caperton Forren, 47, of Meadow Bridge, died March 5, 2012, at his home following a long illness with heart failure.

Born Feb. 21, 1965, in Oak Hill, he was the son of Olen “Bus” and Gloria Houchins Forren.

He was preceded in death by his son, Justin Lee Forren; paternal grandparents, Ollie Caperton and Ida Mae Petrie Forren; and maternal grandparents, Rev. Bill and Daisy Carr Houchins.

Ronnie was a 1983 graduate of Meadow Bridge High School, a U.S. Army veteran and had been employed with Ammco Transmissions in Titusville, Fla.

Surviving, in addition to his parents: sisters, Twana Tucker of Meadow Bridge and Jean Blevins (Roby) of Titusville, Fla.; brother, Charles Ward of Smoot; foster sisters, Nancy Craft of Lexington, N.C., and Sharon Martin of Backus Mountain; aunts, Peggy Day of Meadow Bridge and JoAnn Forren of Gridley, Calif.; uncles, Echols Houchins (Eloise) of Alderson and Garland Houchins of Amarillo, Texas; niece, Carla Coles and husband Jonathan and son Maximus Olen of Bedford, Va.; nephew, Eddie Bennett and wife Tracie and girls Leah and Jiah of Raleigh, N.C.; cousins, Brian Day (Pearl) of Rainelle, Eddie Houchins of California, Dwight Houchins of Gurnie, Ill., and Danny Houchins of Florida, James Forren of Arizona, and Brenda Dawton and Robert Forren, both of California; special friends, Ron Cook and Paige Tipane (Richard), both of Beckley, Johnny Smith of Meadow Bridge and Kenny Spade of Danese; his little dog Bear and to all his Facebook friends, local and worldwide, he loved you.

Services were March 10 at Smathers Funeral Chapel with Pastor Steve Martin officiating. Burial followed in the Wallace Memorial Cemetery at Clintonville.

Donations of sympathy may be sent to the First Pentecostal Church in Rainelle c/o 1944 Meadow Bridge Road, Meadow Bridge, WV 25976. This was the church of his grandfather, Rev. Bill Houchins, and Ronnie had done the reconstruction on the church in memory of his Granddad.
