Joyce Allen

Joyce Allen 70, of Oak Hill, died Feb. 25, 2013.

Clarence Eugene ‘Buster’ Billings

Clarence Eugene “Buster” Billings, 93, died Feb. 24, 2013.

Born in Kilsyth, on Oct. 22, 1919, he was the fourth of 16 children born to the late Charley and Ada Billings. He also was preceded in death by six sisters and four brothers.

Clarence graduated from Pax High School, and served almost five years as a Master Sergeant in the Army Air Force during World War II.

Clarence was a member of Anchor and Ark Masonic Lodge No. 1027 in Waukegan, Ill., for 62 years. He worked as an electrical contractor, retiring in 1982.

Surviving: his devoted and beloved wife of over 65 years, Anita; a daughter Glenda Johnson of Fort Worth, Texas; a son, Alan (Amy) of Raleigh, N.C.; grandsons, Christopher Johnson of Denver, Colo., and Andrew Billings of Raleigh, N.C.; granddaughters, Kathryn Johnson Guardado (Ervey) of Fort Worth, Texas, and Emily Rose Billings of Raleigh, N.C.; sisters, Juanita Hatcher and Dorothy McCoy, both of Oak Hill; brothers, Harold (Barbara) Billings of Delaware, Ohio, Keith Billings of Round Lake, Ill., and Bobby (Rosetta) Billings of Custer Park, Ill.; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were Feb. 28 at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill, with Pastor Sam Vance of Packs Branch Baptist Church officiating. Burial followed at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley, with military graveside rites by Oak Hill VFW Post #3110.
