Euva Lee Campbell

Euva Lee Campbell, 91, of Philadelphia, Pa., formerly of Fayetteville, died Oct. 21, 2012.

Wanda Faye Taylor Dean

Wanda Faye Taylor Dean, 59, of Oak Hill, died Oct. 19, 2012, at her residence.

Born Sept. 27, 1953, at Millstone, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Lilburn and Hannah Stevens Taylor. She also was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

Wanda was a registered nurse and was of the Holiness faith.

Surviving: her son, Walden Thomas and his wife, Jenny, of Oak Hill; her daughter, Tammy Salas and husband Ariosto of Moultrie, Ga.; a grandson whom she raised, Marcos Salas; additional grandchildren, Swayde Thomas, Hayley Thomas, Danyele Salas, Jorge Salas and Mariana Salas; her sisters, Lucy Smith and husband Ronnie of Sandyhook, Ky., and Vienna Spearman of Vanworth, Ohio; and her brother, Robert Taylor and his wife, Pauletta, of Millstone, Ky.

Funeral services were Oct. 22, at the Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill, with Rev. Delmas Wolfe officiating. Burial followed in Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, Pea Ridge Road, Oak Hill.

Jeannette Sue Fox

Jeannette Sue Fox, 79, of Oak Hill, died Oct. 19, 2012, at Hidden Valley Nursing and Rehab Center in Oak Hill.

Born June 19, 1933, at Oak Hill, she was the daughter of the late Forrest W. and Irene Blake Fox. Sisters Forrest Ann Balding, Carolyn L. Rogers Wagner, Nancy Elmore, and Virginia Mae Fox, and a brother, Burke Walton Fox, also preceded her in death.

Miss Fox was a 1951 graduate of Oak Hill High School, was a member of the Oak Hill Baptist Church and was a member of Southern Cross Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy.

She was a former employee of Tom Martin Insurance and United National Bank at Fayetteville.

Surviving: brothers, Lorah L. “Bud” Fox and wife Chloe of Oak Hill, and Thomas William Fox and wife Carol J. of Washington, N.C.; 9 nieces and nephews, 13 great-nieces and nephews and four great-great-nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were Oct. 23, at the Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Rev. David Sneed officiating. Entombment followed in High Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Jason Jay Goins

Jason Jay Goins, 40, lifelong resident of Oak Hill, died Oct. 14, 2012.

Jay was born April 8, 1972 and was preceded in death by his Grandma Goins, Granny Rhodes and Littiebelle McClung.

Jay was a loving son, brother, uncle, friend and father.

Jay, “Jughead,” enjoyed 4-wheeling, guns, shooting matches, riding his Harley and being with his family and friends.

He was employed by Mel’s Small Engine Repair Shop and delivered for Cardinal Caskets and was a Jack of all Trades. He was a longtime Moose Lodge member of Oak Hill #1664.

Surviving: his father and mother, Meldon and Doris Goins; his siblings, Meldena Goins Green and husband Billy Green, Pete Goins, Sandra Goins Rosiek and William Goins; a special niece and great-nephew, Jennifer and Jacob Rosiek; and a host of other relatives and friends too many to mention.

Funeral service was Oct. 19 at High Lawn Funeral Home Chapel, Oak Hill, with Pastor Windy McClung officiating. Burial followed at High Lawn Memorial Park.

Arnold Hall, 54, of Montgomery, died Oct. 22, 2012.

Sylvia Marie Holliday Jarvis

Sylvia Marie Holliday Jarvis, 96, of Oak Hill, died Oct. 19, 2012, at Hidden Valley Nursing and Rehab Center in Oak Hill.

Born April 9, 1916, at Graydon, she was the daughter of the late John and Clara Parrish Holliday. Her husband, August Jarvis; son, Joe Anderson Jarvis; daughters, Mary Lou Jarvis and Anne Jarvis; a brother, Rudolph Holliday; and sisters, Nellie Toney and Agnes Bickford, also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Jarvis was a member of the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Oak Hill.

She was a homemaker.

Surviving: son, David Jarvis of Muncie, Ind., and a daughter, Janet Jarvis of Oak Hill.

Mass of Christian burial was Oct. 22, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Oak Hill, with Father Paul Yuenger officiating. Burial followed in High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill.

Ruby L. Jones

Ruby Lilly Jones, 76, of Brooklyn, died Oct. 16, 2012, after a short illness.  

Born Oct. 31, 1935, in Prince, she was the daughter of the late Andrew D. Coffman and Nora Tolley. She also was preceded in death by her son, Mark Allen Jones.

She had dedicated her life to her Lord and attended church at Christ Fellowship Church on Nickleville Road in Fayetteville.

She attended Fayetteville High School and had a BSL degree from Holmes Bible College in South Carolina.  

Ruby loved children and worked with them in churches and Vacation Bible Schools.

Surviving: her loving and devoted husband of 52 years, Ernie Daris Jones of Brooklyn; her son, Ernie D. Jones Jr. and wife Ora Jean of Brooklyn; daughter-in-law, Dell Edith Jones of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; grandsons, Shaun Blake of Midway and James Snead and wife Ginny of Mt. Hope; great-grandchildren, Isaiah and Bethany Snead, and Logan and Brianna Blake; and a host of special family members and friends she cherished dear to her heart.

Funeral services were Oct. 19 at Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home, Fayetteville, with Rev. Robert Morey officiating. She was laid to rest at Cunard Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until time of services at the funeral home on Friday.

Dennis James Keffer Sr.

Dennis James Keffer Sr., 89, of Lively, died Oct. 18, 2012, at Veterans Administration Hospital in Beckley.

Born April 3, 1923, at Lively, he was the son of the late Elmer Brady and Myrtle “Mertie” Lively Keffer. He also was preceded in death by his first wife, Irma Lee Nichols Keffer; a brother, Alfred Franklin Keffer; and sisters, Opal Holley, Violet Williams and Mabel Evans.

Dennis was a proud veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army in north Africa.

Following his service to his county he served the people of the state of West Virginia as an officer for the West Virginia Department of Natural Resources. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed working on the farm and gardening.

He was a very social person and was loved greatly by so many members of the community.

He was noted as a local historian and contributed information to many publications and books.

Surviving: his wife, Delma Coleman Keffer; sons, Dennis James Keffer Jr. and wife Lisa of Pax, and Stephen N. Keffer and wife Angie of Lively, daughters, Debra A. Westbrook and husband Earl of Charlotte, N.C.; stepson, George “Steve” Sparks and wife Regina of Oak Hill; stepdaughter, Beth Sparks Sturges and husband Jim of Swansea, S.C.; his grandchildren, Angie Patterson, Christine Robinson, Wayne Lafferty, Jarrod Keffer, Merrit Markham, Heather Keffer, Shaun Keffer, Brandon Keffer, Adam Okes, Brittney Biere, Steven Sparks, James W. Sturges IIl, Simon Sturges, Josiah Sturges, Mamie Sturges, Katie Sturges, Linus Sturges, and Zoë Sturges; and numerous great-grandchildren and other family members.

Funeral services were Oct. 21, at Tyree Funeral Home in Mount Hope with Rev. Doug Holley officiating. Burial was at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, Oak Hill, with military graveside rites by Oak Hill VFW Post #3110.

Millard Thomas Law, 80, of Oak Hill, died Oct. 20, 2012.

Robert Norman Pasley

Robert Norman Pasley, 73, of Fayetteville, died Oct. 16, 2012, at Plateau Medical Center, Oak Hill.

Born May 10, 1039, at Welch, he was the son of the late Robert Stanley and Katherine M. Johnson Pasley.

Surviving: his sister, Mary Martha Bocook of Gigharbor, Wash.; nephews, Robert Bocook and wife Donna of Bridgeport, and Jeff Bocook and wife Nicole of Tacoma, Wash.; and niece, Robin Bocook of Gigharbor.

His body has been donated to the Human Gift Registry at WVU and he requested that there be no services.

Mary Irene Vickers

Mary Irene Vickers, 99, of Ansted, formerly of Gad, died Oct. 16, 2012, at Ansted Center, following a long illness.

Born Jan. 19, 1913, in West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late John L. Vickers Sr., and Almida Hughes. She also was preceded in death by her children, Jerry Lee Vickers and Betty Lou Neal.

For many years Mary delivered local newspapers and did janitorial work for her church.

She was a homemaker and a member of Zoar Baptist Church of Keslers Cross Lanes, her pastor then was Pastor Harmon Grey.

Surviving: grandchildren, Michael L. Vickers, Teresa L. Anderson, Mary Elizabeth Carlton, Ann Marie Britt, Lori Kincaid, Alexandria Neal, Jimmy Neal, Mike Neal, Robert Neal and John Neal; 26 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Oct. 19 at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home Chapel, Ansted. Burial followed in Zoar Baptist Church Cemetery at Keslers Cross Lanes.

Anna Frances Whitlock Wilder

Anna Frances Whitlock Wilder, 81, of Fayetteville, died Oct. 19, 2012.

Billy Ray Woodson

Billy Ray Woodson, 72, of Oak Hill, died Oct. 21, 2012, at his home.

Born July 30, 1941, at Milburn, he was the son of the late Charles and Helen Phillips Woodson. A brother, Jerry Woodson, also preceded him in death.

He was a retired long haul driver and a U.S. Army veteran.

Surviving: sons, William Charles Woodson and wife Brittany, and Jerry Lee Woodson, all of Oak Hill; granddaughter, Madison Woodson of Oak Hill; the mother of his children, Susan Woodson; special friend, Iris Fortner of Oak Hill; brothers, Larry Woodson of Ohio, Ronald Woodson of Florida, Jackie Woodson of Indiana and Mike Woodson of Oak Hill; and one grandchild.

Upon his request, Mr. Woodson was cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
