Ellen Mae Miller Lawson

Ellen Mae Miller Lawson, 97, of Oak Hill, died Sept. 27, 2013, at her residence.

Born Aug. 11, 1916, at Fayetteville, she was the daughter of the late William Franklin and Nancy Jane Bell Miller.

Ellen was a homemaker, creating a loving home for her family.

Surviving: her daughter, Mary Lawson McCurdy of Fayetteville; her granddaughter, Olivia Mae DeLung and husband Travis James DeLung, and her great-grandchildren, Jaidyn Faith DeLung and James Oliver DeLung, all of Fayetteville; and her brother, Lyle Miller and his wife, Lily, of Fayetteville.

Mrs. Lawson’s wishes was to have no services. A private family entombment will be held at her final resting place at High Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, Oak Hill.

Connie Sue Johnson Mealhouse

Connie Sue Johnson Mealhouse, 66, of Oak Hill, died Aug. 3, 2013.

In accordance with her wishes, Connie has been cremated.

Family and friends gathered Sept. 29 for a time of remembrance and sharing about Connie at the Scout Cabin at the Oak Hill City Park in Oak Hill.

Alan Dean Moore

Alan Dean Moore, 51, of Swiss, died Sept. 27, 2013, after a sudden illness.

Born Feb. 17, 1962, in The Philippines, he was a son of the later Arthur and Doreen (Bowen) Moore. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Brian Moore (Sherry).

Alan will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Surviving: his wife, Melba Moore of Swiss; sons, James Moore of Florida, Alan “Aaron” Moore and Adam Moore at home; a daughter, Andrea Moore, at home; brothers, James Bowen (Rosie) of Hurst, Texas, Robert Bowen (Deonne) on White Oak, Arthur E. Moore Jr. (Racheal) of Ft. Worth, Texas, Terry Moore of Alvarado, Texas, Bobby Moore (Becky) of Ansted, Benjamin Moore (Vernice) of Ripley, and Timothy Moore of Glen Ferris; and two special little guys that called Alan “Popaw,” Finnie and Ray Cox.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 4, at the Simms United Methodist Church in Swiss with the Rev. David Bowe officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Friends may call two hours prior to service time at the church.
