Pat Junior Murphy

Pat Junior Murphy, 62, of Oak Hill, died Sept. 29, 2013, at his home.

Born June 19, 1951, at Oak Hill, he was the son of the late John Alexander and Sally Hall Murphy. A brother, James Ray Davis, and a sister, Gracie McGuffin, also preceded him in death.

Pat was a 1970 graduate of Collins High School in Oak Hill.

He was a hydraulic repairman for W. R. Murdock and Sons and an employee of Kroger.

He was a member of the Oak Hill Church of the Nazarene.

For 46 years Pat’s most cherished memories were during the Christmas season. He loved playing Santa and sharing his love toward children and their families.

Surviving: wife, Virginia Frances Bowling Murphy; daughter, Stephanie Shrewsberry and husband Moses of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Levi Shrewsberry and Alexis Shrewsberry, both of Fayetteville; and a brother, Mike Murphy and his wife, Susie, of Beckwith.

Funeral services will be on Thursday, Oct. 3 at the Oak Hill Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Mike Legg and Rev. Benny Bleigh officiating. Burial will be at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, Oak Hill.

Walter Lee Parker

Walter Lee Parker, 90, of Ramsey, died Sept. 23, 2013, following a long illness.

Born July 28, 1923, in Sanger, he was the son of the late William Matthew and Rosie Bell Doss Parker. He also was preceded in death by his daughters, Dorene Clendenin and Patricia Parker; and a son, Richard Parker.

Mr. Parker was a retired custodian for Hawks Nest Museum in Ansted and was a member of the Horseshoe Baptist Church in Ramsey.

Surviving: daughters, Phyllis Clendenin of Victor, Linda Lance of Rainelle, Brenda Harris of Aldie, Va., Arlean Dorman of Page, Julie Legg of Victor, Christine Clendenin of Hico, and Loretta Parker of Minden; sons, Lawrence Parker of Victor, William Parker of Mocksville, N.C., Garland Parker and Russell Parker, both of Victor, and Lee Parker of Page; 33 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Sept. 26 at the Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Ansted with Evangelist Nathan Housman officiating. Burial was in the Martin Cemetery at Ramsey.
