Catherine E. Taylor

Catherine E. Taylor, 84, of Kanawha City, died May 14, 2013, at Broadmore Assisted Living in Hurricane.

She was born in Dayton, Ohio, a daughter of the late David and Abigail Adams. Catherine also was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Rev. Charles Paul Taylor Sr.

Catherine was a member of the Nazarene Church and a homemaker.

Surviving: sons, Paul Jr. and wife Kathy of Huntington, Tim Taylor of Alexandra, Va., and Steve and his wife, Mindy, of Cross Lanes; grandchildren, Chad and Crystal Taylor of Austin, Texas, Benji Taylor of Huntington, Tiffani and Patrick Stewart of Huntington, Devyn Taylor of Cross Lanes, and Dylan Taylor of Cross Lanes; and great-grandchildren, Makinley Jo Stewart and Caspian Austin Stewart.

Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 16, at Tyler Mountain Funeral Home, Cross Lanes.

Friends will be received at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

Joyce V. Traynham Willis

Mrs. Joyce V. Traynham Willis, 81, of Whipple, died May 6, 2013, at Plateau Medical Center, after a short illness.

Born April 24, 1932, at Red Star, she was the daughter of the late William Traynham and Beatrice Leftwich. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Willis; a son, Norman Traynham;  brothers, Willie and Eugene Traynham; and sister, Josette Traynham.

Mrs. Willis was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church and a retired home care provider.

Surviving: her son, Nubert Traynham of Whipple; brothers, Richard Traynham of New Rochelle, N.Y.,  Robert Traynham and Kenneth Traynham, both of Boston, Mass., and John Traynham of Charlotte, N.C.; a granddaughter, Keisha Traynham of Boston, Mass.; and nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives and friends.

Funeral services were May 13 at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, Carlisle, with Rev. Charles Brown officiating. Burial followed in Greenwood Memorial Park, Beckley.
