George Edward Holtsclaw

George Edward Holtsclaw, 79, of Fayetteville, died Jan. 3, 2013, at his home.

Born July 21, 1933, at Laurel Creek, he was the son of the late William and Sylvia Jones Holtsclaw. He also was preceded in death by his brothers, William Holtsclaw and Charles Holtsclaw; and sisters, Mary Bennett and Lanie Conley.

He was a retired employee for Houchins Block.

Mr. Holtsclaw was a member of the Calvin Advent Church.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.

Surviving: wife, Rose Marie Moore Holtsclaw; brother, Paul Holtsclaw of Oak Hill; his “grandchildren,” Crystal Chapman and R.J. Roles; some very special people who were a part of his life, Charles and Mary Moore, Kelly and Sara, Debbie and Bobby Sears, David Burgess, Israel and Crystal Chapman, Chloe and Jakob Pennington, Gracie, Elijah, and Aiden Chapman, Noah Roles and Penny Begley; his special caregiver, Imogene Abicht; and a host of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were Jan. 7 at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Pastor Robert Pauley officiating. Burial was at Pleasant View Cemetery, Fayetteville, with military graveside rites by Oak Hill VFW Post #3110.

Bonnie Marie Hunt

Bonnie Marie Hunt, 74, of Ansted, died Jan. 6, 2013, at Ansted Center, following a long illness.

Bonnie was born Aug. 7, 1938, in Charleston, daughter of the late Dalefield Harold and Eunice Pickens Harold. Bonnie also was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Hunt, on May 20, 1993.

She was a homemaker, a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Surviving: daughters, Lori and Tommy Grimmett of Ansted, Rachael and Wayne Wirtjes of Nettie and Jeannie Hunt of Pinch; sons, Larry Hunt of Ansted, Mike Hunt of Beckley, Charlie Hunt of Fayetteville and Lawrence Hunt of South Carolina; a sister, Faye McNeeley of Charleston; 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held Jan. 9 at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home Chapel in Ansted. At her request, she was cremated after the visitation.
