Larry Edward Patterson

Larry Edward Patterson, 67, of Oak Hill, died Dec. 31, 2012.

Graveside services followed by burial were Jan. 7, at Patton Cemetery, Meadow Bridge, with the Rev. Steve Martin officiating.

Sylvia Mae Propps

Sylvia Mae Propps, 78, of Montgomery, died Dec. 18, 2012, at Saint Francis Hospital in Charleston.

She was born Dec. 3, 1934, in Minden, daughter of the late Jennings M. and Mary Fodor Propps. She also was preceded in death by her brother, Jennings M. Propps II; and her sister, Julia Propps Ammar.

She was a longtime resident of Montgomery, graduated from Montgomery High School, and earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from Marshall University.

She was a retired Fayette County school teacher, after teaching many years at Kimberly Elementary School.

She was a member of the Kanawha Salines Presbyterian Church.

Surviving: her niece, Linda Ammar Harshbarger of Georgetown, Ky.; nephews, Douglas B. Ammar of Atlanta, Ga., and Gregory S. Ammar of DeKalb, Ill.; five great-nieces and nephews, and three great-grandnieces and nephews.

Graveside service was held Jan. 5 at Huse Memorial Park in Fayetteville with Rev. John Appleton officiating. Burial followed in the Memorial Park.

Donations in Sylvia’s name may be made to the Kanawha Salines Presbyterian Church, 4303 Salines Drive, Charleston, WV 25306.

Stanley Rosiek

Stanley Rosiek, 89, of Oak Hill, died Jan. 5, 2013, at Plateau Medical Center in Oak Hill.

Born Dec. 26, 1923, at Carlisle, he was the son of the late Anthony “Tony” and Catherine Uryga Rosiek. His wife of 63 years, Wanda Josephine Duboski Rosiek, preceded him in death on June 18, 2012. He also was preceded in death by a son, Michael “Mickey” Wayne Rosiek; daughter-in-law, Debbie Rosiek; two grandsons; a granddaughter; brothers, Walter, John and Leon Rosiek; and sisters, Helen C. Hess, Angeline Zaleski, Catherine Shamblin and Ann Novak.

He was a retired coal miner for New River Company.

Mr. Rosiek was a member of the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Oak Hill.

He was a member of the UMWA, AARP, American Legion Post 32, Beckley, and a life member of Amvets Post 21 Detroit MI.

A U.S. Navy veteran, he served during World War II.

Surviving: daughters, Paula Jo Prostrollo of Oak Hill and Karen Jean Todaro and husband Ben of Oak Hill; sons, Jeff Alan Rosiek of Tampa, Fla., Richard Keith “Ricky” Rosiek of Oak Hill and Stanley Edward Rosiek Jr. and wife Janet of Charleston; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian burial was Jan. 9, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Oak Hill with Father Paul Yuenger officiating. Entombment was at High Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, Oak Hill, with military graveside rites by Oak Hill VFW Post #3110.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic School, 123 Elmore Street, Oak Hill WV 25901.
