Mamie Marie Workman Suttle

Mamie Marie Workman Suttle, 87, of Clear Creek, died Dec. 30, 2012, at Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley.

Born Oct. 5, 1925, at Clear Creek, she was the daughter of the late Prater and Tellie Toney Workman. Her husband, Cecil Asbury Suttle; a son, Paul Scarbro; sisters, Mary Hellem, Madeline Griffin and Jewell Meadows; and brothers, Kenneth Workman, Cleve Workman and Carlos Workman, also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Suttle was of the Methodist faith and a homemaker.

Surviving: son, Cleeroy Scarbro of Clear Creek; daughter, Patricia Cooper and husband Starlin of Bolt; stepdaughter, Brenda Johnson and husband Jack of Ohio; daughter-in-law, Joyce Scarbro of Clear Creek; sisters, Joan Blevins of Clear Creek and Halline Thompson of Sylvester; and seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Jan. 2 at Tyree Funeral Home in Mount Hope with Rev. Loretta Taylor and Rev. Carl Sellards officiating. Burial was at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity.

June Wills

June A. Wills, 81, of Montgomery, died Jan. 1, 2013, in Charleston after a long illness.

She was born June 22, 1931, in Crichton, as June A. Akers, daughter of the late John Q. and Emma Chrisman Akers. She was married to Homer Wills Jr. on June 28, 1952. She was preceded in death by her husband and brothers, John Akers and Wesley Akers.

She was a partner in Pieper & Wills Associates, an accounting firm in Gauley Bridge, until her retirement in 1993.

June was a graduate of West Virginia Institute of Technology and Crichton High School.

She was a longtime resident of the Gauley Bridge area.

Surviving: a sister, Martha Tilley of Charlton Heights; brother, Ray Akers of Kathleen, Ga.; children, Deborah of Charlton Heights, Vickie of Montgomery, Diana Eades of Fayetteville, and Rodney of Montgomery; grandchildren, Jeremy Wills of Pratt, Tessa Hypes of Scarbro, Mallory Eades of Hico, and Patrick McKnight of Montgomery; and great-grandchildren, Isabella Hypes, Elayna Wills and Elliott Hypes.

Freda Young

Freda Young, 74, of Oak Hill, died Jan. 3, 2013.

Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, at the Gatewood Brethren Church, Fayetteville, with Pastor Scott Lester officiating.
