Upcoming local reunions

Dobbins Reunion — Friends and family of the Rev. William Curtis Dobbins are invited to the annual Dobbins Family Reunion on Saturday, Aug. 8, beginning at 10 a.m. (eat at noon) at Grandview State Park, Shelter #4. The Rev. William Curtis Dobbins came to the Sand Knob (Summers County) area in 1840. He was both a farmer and a Methodist circuit rider preacher. Foster Reunion — The family of Alfred W. Foster will have its annual family reunion on Sunday, July 24 at Shelter #1 at Carnifex Ferry Battleground State Park, starting at noon.

Kesler/Kessler Reunion — The descendants of Peter Kesler, originally from Germany, will be meeting for the 63rd annual Kesler/Kessler Reunion at the Kesler Memorial Presbyterian Church at Clifty on Sunday Road, Hico, on Sunday, Aug. 14. All Kesler/Kesslers are to be reunited beginning at the 10 a.m. Sunday school service and then the 11 a.m. morning worship service. There will be a picnic luncheon at the noon hour with special singing by the Fisherman Quartet from Ohio, starting at 1 p.m. Paperware, silverware and drinks are provided. Dothan/Toney Creek — The Dothan/Toney Creek Reunion will be held Saturday, July 30 at Oak Hill High School, Oyler Ave, Oak Hill. All present and former residents and friends are welcome and invited to attend. Come and enjoy fun, food and memories. Please bring pictures, etc., to share with others. CHS Class of 1956 — The Collins High School Class of 1956 is looking for several individuals in preparation of planning its 55-year class reunion, set for Thursday, Sept. 1. Vandall-Sawyers Reunion — The Vandall-Sawyers Family Reunion will be held Saturday, Aug. 6 at Grandview Park at the playground shelter. Participants are asked to bring a meat dish and a side dish and one recipe to be used in a family cookbook. Donations for shelter and supplies would be appreciated. Dinner will be served at 1:30 p.m. Friends and relatives are invited to attend. Proctor & Brown Family — The Proctor & Brown Family Reunion will be held July 30 at Carnifex Ferry Battlefield State Park, 1194 Carnifex Ferry Rd., Summersville.

MHS Class of 1961 — The Montgomery High School Class of 1961 will hold its 50-year reunion on Saturday, Sept. 17 at the Ramada in South Charleston. Deadline to register has been extended until Aug. 1. If you did not receive your information letter, please contact George Fisher at 304-779-2886.
