Family members will meet Friday, July 2 at the Holiday Inn Express Civic Center, Charleston; Saturday, July 3 at Water Ways in Boone County; and Sunday, July 4 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Smithers and 2 p.m. until dark at Shawnee Park, Dunbar (two shelter by bathroom on the right as you enter the park). Stewart Reunion — The children of the late Fred and Dessie Mae Parrish Stewart will hold their annual family reunion on Sunday, Sept. 5, at the Collins Park, behind Collins Middle School, starting at 11:30 a.m. All siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins and distant relatives are encouraged to attend. This is a covered dish meal, so plan to bring your favorite dishes. Organizers look forward to seeing everyone.

Come On Home Reunion — Please join in the 2010 Come on Home Reunion and mail your reservation in the amount of $20 each, payable to Come on Home Reunion to: Charlie Jones, 106 Phillips Street, Fayetteville, WV 25840. The FHS Alumni Association awarded six $1,000 scholarships in 2009 and will be awarding six in 2010. Initial membership fee is $25 and dues for the following years are $10 per year. Memorial donations, no minimum required, will be gratefully accepted. Please indicate the name to be used and it will be placed on the Memorial Plaque, which is displayed at Fayetteville High School. The second plaque has several names on it already and is placed alongside the first plaque. If you haven’t joined the Alumni Association or renewed your membership, please do so now. MHS Class of 1960 — The Montgomery High School Class of 1960 will stage its 50th reunion on July 23-24. The reunion committee is hard at work finalizing plans, and the committee was to have final reservations by June 15. The Class of 1960 welcomed the first class of students from Simmons High School as freshmen in 1956, after segregated schools were discontinued in West Virginia. This year’s reunion will feature a free Friday night open house from 6 to 9 p.m. at the old Montgomery High School. On Saturday, the reunion dinner will be held from 6 to 11 p.m. at the Charleston House Holiday Inn. Cost will be $60.
