Oak Hill netters sweep Pirates

Oak Hill 10, Midland Trail 0
The Oak Hill girls remained unbeaten at 7-0 Tuesday with the shutout of the visiting Patriots.
Oak Hill broke open a 1-0 game with five runs in the fourth inning.
Desi Hughes delivered three triples and knocked in a pair of runs in three at-bats to lead the Red Devils. Erin Wilson was 2-for-3 with a triple, Sheniequa Panky had a double and two RBIs, and Mary Beth Withrow and Sara Schoolcraft each knocked in single runs.
Wilson got the pitching win in relief of Bobbie Higginbotham.
Oak Hill 11, Westside 1
The Red Devil boys improved to 5-0 Tuesday.
B.J. Wallace posted the pitching win with relief help from Frankie McGraw.
Following are OHHS offensive contributors: Tyler Zimm 1-for-3 (run), Aaron McComas 2-for-3 (2 RBIs), Brent Brash 2-3 (2 runs, RBI), Chris Chapman 2-for-3 (2 runs, 2 RBIs, double), Tyler Oliver 1-for-2 (RBI), and DeAndre Leonard 2-for-2 (2 runs, 2 RBIs).
Fayetteville 20, Meadow Bridge 3

The Pirates (2-3) raced to an 8-0 lead after two innings to turn back the Wildcats Tuesday.
Following are leading FHS hitters: Troy Hopkins 2-for-5, J.P. Blankenship 3-for-4, Frank Bragg 2-for-4, Drew Weis 4-for-5, Brandon Fox 3-for-4 (HR), Vernon Farrell 1-for-1, Alex Preast 3-for-4 (HR), and Ryan Payne 3-for-3.
Eric Halstead went 2-for-3 for Meadow Bridge.
Jason Young earned the pitching triumph with relief help from Brandon Doyle.

The OHHS softball team recently swept a pair of games from Westside. Last Tuesday they beat Westside at Oak Hill, 14-4, and in the nightcap Oak Hill emerged as a 4-3 winner in a game called due to lateness.
On Friday night at Oceana, Oak Hill won another doubleheader. Freshman Erin Wilson, making her first high school start, shut down the Renegades 3-2 with nine strikeouts while yielding only three hits.
Wilson and teammate Sara Baber each went 3-for-4 at the plate. Sara Schoolcraft and Lindsey Smith both contributed a double. Desi Hughes picked up two RBIs while Lindsey Smith drove in one. In the second game, Bobbie Higginbottom fired a six- hitter and the Devils won again, 10-2, by pounding out 13 hits.
