Following are other recent section baseball results:
Fayetteville 15, Midland Trail 5
Top-seeded Fayetteville got the upper hand with the decisive win in the Class A Region 3, Section 2 tournament at Hico Tuesday.
A six-run fifth inning gave the Pirates some breathing room in the end. Brandon Fox started the inning with towering solo homer to center. With the bases loaded, Nich Carte’s double to center field brought home three more runs for a 13-5 cushion.
Carte then scored on a single by K.C. Dempsey, and Dempsey crossed home plate on the same play after advancing to second on the throw home and then scoring on a Patriot throwing error.
Earlier, Midland Trail had pulled to within 8-5 when Mike Mullins doubled and scored on a Dustin Nickell single. Nickell later scored on a Jake Crist single.
Fayetteville added a run in the bottom of the inning when Troy Hopkins came home on a Drew Weis two-bagger.
Each team went scoreless in its first at bat, but the Pirates plated five runs in the bottom of the second. The outburst was keyed by a Frankie Bragg single and Carte’s RBI double.
Sparked by Jarren Dufour’s RBI double, Trail answered in the next frame, pushing across a pair of runs. Fayetteville responded with three more tallies in the bottom of the inning, with a two-RBI single by Bragg the key blast.
Sophomore Jon Paul Blankenship went the distance on the mound for Fayetteville in the five-inning affair. He allowed five runs on six hits, and the Pirate defense committed three errors.
For FHS, Carte was 2-for-4 and drove in four runs, Fox was 2-for-2, Blankenship was 2-for-2 with three runs and an RBI, Bragg was 2-for-3 with three RBIs, and Weis was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.
Dufour was 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI for Midland, George was 2-for-3, and Mullins delivered a double.
Midland Trail and Meadow Bridge were to play the elimination game yesterday, with the winner facing Fayetteville (14-12) at 5 p.m. today. The if-necessary contest is set for 5 p.m. Friday.

Jarren Dufour homered, tripled, singled and drove in three runs as the host Patriots won the opening game of the tournament Monday.
Winning pitcher Hunter Scarbro went the distance, yielding six hits while walking five batters and striking out nine.
Jake Crist and Keith Harper each had two hits for Trail (9-8). Harper drove in a run.
Kyle McGee, the losing pitcher, went 2-for-3 at the plate for the Wildcats.
The Patriots trailed 2-0 entering the bottom of the third but pushed across all of their runs in the next four frames, including seven combined in the third and fourth, to gain the victory.
