OAK HILL — Oak Hill High School will be well-represented at the state high school tennis tournament, which begins today in Charleston.
In regional qualifying last week, Emily Pino, the girls No. 1 singles seed, Tyler Whitmore, the boys No. 2 singles seed, and Ryne Shuff, the boys No. 4 singles player, each advanced to the state event.
Also, Whitmore teamed up with Thomas Booth to advance in No. 1 boys doubles, and Pino and teammate Ivana Rosiek moved on in No. 1 girls doubles.
Pino, a senior, played in the state No. 3 singles a year ago, winning her opening match before falling in the semifinals.
Following are pairings for OHHS players today:
-- Singles — Pino vs. Nicole Lee of Charleston Catholic; Whitmore vs. Wade McClone of St. Joseph; and Shuff vs. Jamie Hanna of Wheeling Central; and
-- Doubles — Pino-Rosiek vs. Shah-Thomas of Winfield; and Booth-Whitmore vs. Phillips-Whipkey of Charleston Catholic.
The Red Devils are coached by Mary Ann Paavilainen.
