Wilson concludes solid rookie softball season

OAK HILL — Rising Oak Hill High School sophomore Erin Wilson received an all-state plaque after the North-South All-Star softball game June 19 in Buffalo. Wilson had the opportunity to compete in accuracy throws, speed competitions, bunting and overhand speed throws.

This spring, Wilson was one of only two freshmen named by the state’s sports writers on the Class AA all-state softball team. Wilson, who pitched four shutouts and compiled a 1.68 ERA with 89 strikeouts in 75 innings for the Red Devils, was a second-team pick. She also batted .500 and drove in 20 runs.

Now that she has accomplished her stated goal of making all-state, she is continuing her softball development by playing travel ball this summer.
