OAK HILL — The Oak Hill High School Wrestling Boosters will hold a fundraiser for the school’s successful wrestling program Friday, Oct. 19 at 6 p.m. at the American Legion Hall Post #32 at 1708 S. Kanawha St., Beckley.
The event will be a Longaberger Basket Bingo, with 10 games for $10. There will also be a door prize and hamper raffle.
In addition to Bingo, attendees will get the chance to win Longaberger baskets from the fall and Christmas collection.
The wrestling team, coached by Joel Harris and Alan Fell since 1999, has produced the school’s first state wrestling placewinner (in 2002) and nine placewinners since then. In 2006, Ryan Fell became Oak Hill’s first-ever state grappling champion.
“Our boosters look forward to continued support of this athletic program,” said a representative. “Many of our athletes have excelled academically as well. We are very proud that three of our graduates have gone on to wrestle at the college level.
“Your support allows us to purchase mats, uniforms, meals and equipment. Many of our tournaments are away and require overnight lodging and transportation. In comparison to other high school sports, our team is very small, but our ambitions are high. We appreciate your support and hope you can join us for a fun-filled evening.”
For tickets, contact Joel Harris at 663-3464 or Alan Fell at 469-3918. Only 250 tickets will be available.
