The WVU Tech volleyball team picked up its first win of the season on Saturday, as the Golden Bears downed Berea College in four games during their second match of the day at the Mountain State University quad in Beckley.
Tech (1-12) took the first two games, 30-23 and 30-20, but Berea fought back to take the third game, 30-25. Tech closed things out with a 30-22 win in the fourth game.
“We’re real excited with the win,” said coach Amanda Fowler. “The girls needed it for their confidence.
“We’ve got a good group of girls this year. They keep improving; they’re taking baby steps.”
Earlier in the day, Tech fell to the homestanding Cougars 3-0 and would also drop a 3-0 decision to Pikeville College in its last match of the day.
