FMS gets by ’Cats 22-6

Fayetteville Middle posted a 22-6 football triumph over Meadow Bridge Thursday.

The Pirates led 14-6 at intermission and tacked on another eight points following the break.

Tracey Lovins rushed nine times for 144 yards, including a 55-yard scoring romp, and he also reached paydirt on a 60-yard fumble recovery.

Jessie Lusher scored on a 15-yard TD reception, and Hunter Pullens and Aaron Krise supplied two-point conversions.

Krise added 24 yards on the ground and Pullens had 16.

According to coach John Mark Kincaid, Fayetteville “played well defensively.” Leading the prevent effort were Krise and Pullens, with 11 tackles each. River Pullens recorded a fumble recovery. Also playing well were Lusher, Mike Linkenhoker, Evan O’Dell, Will Dooley, Brian Gore and Timmy Fischer.

Also last week, Valley defeated Mount Hope 28-8 in a battle of unbeatens.

Tonight, Valley visits Fayetteville, Meadow Bridge is at Montcalm, Ansted travels to Mount Hope, and Collins plays at Eastern Greenbrier. The games start at 6 p.m., with the exception of a 7 p.m. kickoff for Collins-Eastern Greenbrier.
