FAYETTEVILLE —
On Dig Pink Night, the Fayetteville Pirates captured wins in a pair of high school volleyball matches.
In the opening varsity match, Fayetteville beat Valley 2-0, posting scores of 26-24 and 25-22.
Contributors for the Pirates included: Hannah Samples, four kills, one service point and 17 digs; Cassidy Bayes, one kill, six assists, six service points and six digs; Jessica Brown, four kills, six service points, nine digs and one block; Cassie Semple, one kill, two service points and five digs; Maddie Pritt, three kills, eight assists, four service points and four digs; and Emily Akers, 12 service points and four digs.
In the second varsity match of the evening, Fayetteville beat the Woodrow Wilson JV 2-0 with scores of 25-20 and 25-19.
Following are FHS contributors: Samples, three kills, one assist, nine service points and 11 digs; Bayes, two kills, three assists, seven service points and four digs; Brown, four kills, one service point and four digs; Semple, three kills, four service points and six digs; Pritt, one kill, five assists, two service points and one dig; Akers, three service points and one dig; Kathryn Peelish, two kills and two digs; Jenna Roark, three assists and two digs; Malea Browning, two digs; and Ashton McKinney, two digs.
In middle school play, Meadow Bridge won a best-of-three from the Pirates, 25-20, 25-27 and 25-23.
The Fayetteville varsity (13-8-2) plays Tuesday, Oct. 9 at 6 p.m. at home versus Wyoming East.
